Re: Beginner display questions

I read a few notes on how touchscreens seem to need either a custom OS image? (wow).. or have to go through many steps to get touchscreen orientation to rotate? I plan on having my display in portrait mode (vertical).. Do all displays have this issue where you need a custom image or do bunch of step...

Re: Beginner display questions

I dont know of any reputable places except the official pi display.. * (which I would purchase if it was not maxed out at 800x480 for a 7" display and at that price point) * still not sure why the DSI/proprietary port is a benefit? * do you still need the external 'touch screen' cable/usb when using...

Beginner display questions

Disclaimer: Beginners Section I have a project that I am wrapping up the hardware soon... and while I wait (for parts & decisions) :) I wanted to finalize the 'front end' portion. Quick & Dirty Summary: Arduino/Pi based project with stepper motors & linear rail movement (not a CNC machine), that has...

Re: Flash Player on Pi4

This is good to know!! Thank you for posting this! I have an old Pi 3 that uses Flash as the front end/gui.... (taking data from outside sensors, and displaying them as an overlay on the webcam feed) side note: doesnt matter if websites are using this or not anymore... (wasnt even the question).. * ...

Re: PHP raspberry pi servo control help

@Heater I think you need re-read the posts here. * not my requirements at all.. * Arduino mentioned as one way I have done this using PHP (as I dont have many RPi projects under my belt yet especially with the GPIO pins).. and was done to give an understanding of the whole process. * I mentioned ESP...

Re: PHP raspberry pi servo control help

The PHP part is VERY easy... However.. as mentioned.... this may not be the correct language (or easiest at least) to be working with for this type of project. That being said, I usually ONLY do PHP web development.... but being as this a WEB (server side scripting language)... how do you believe th...

Re: Chess engine communication with arduino

I dont know anything about the PiChess app.. but there are many ways to pass data back and forth.. I have done a project where the Pi is hosting a webpage, and I use PHP/AJAX to send data back and forth to each component over USB (ie: treated as a serial connection) I have recently worked on a proje...

Re: Can I setup display by making changes in /boot ? If yes, then How ?

I suppose OP didnt state if it was a GPIO connection or not (unless I missed something?)

I took it as he has access to the desktop, but is asking how to change things once he gets to the 'cyber cafe' and only has a portable 3.5" display..

Re: Can I setup display by making changes in /boot ? If yes, then How ?

Really? * RE-imaging your card just set a screen resolution seems... well a bit stupid/odd. (and not very practical) directly form the desktop.. you can right click and change settings/resolution.. the problem is you only get to choose form a list of pre-set resolutions.. (none of which are for 480x...

Re: Can I setup display by making changes in /boot ? If yes, then How ?

I'm curious about setting the boot/native resolution to 480x320 as well.. However.. in testing ........(you can only set the resolution down to 720 or 6xx (or something) I think from the desktop? dont recall exactly off hand)......the 3.5" 480x320 screens do NOT look so great... especially if you ar...

Re: Using GPIO for data pass through

Maybe just use a transistor/mosfet to accomplish this?

I dont have any experience with the RPi GPIIO stuff yet.... but I do on the Arduino platform..

and when its too much voltage/current.. (whatever) usually you use a transistor to 'toggle/switch' things for you.

Are you under the impression that the "Finger Print Reader" was supposed to (somehow) communicate with the database by default?

Re: RPi (LAMP) and open (serial?) communication with Arduino/Flash app

Thanks.. yeah I know how to load variables/data from external sources like that.. the problem with that approach is you just polling over and over... never really knowing if you have any data there or not.. Using the XMLSocket approach.. it just stays open listening for the data.. and then fired a c...

Re: Change/Configure camera settings?

Sorry about the lack of details. The default webpage that gets loaded has an embedded Adobe Flash app in it.. It detects any local webcam, and then 'turns it on' (after initial prompt that it is ok to do so) As of now in my project.. I do nothing else with the camera. I had an older post where yours...

Thank you for the reply.. Sorry to beat a dead horse here... (I'm VERY new to RPi and CLI all together).. Because my end project will just need to boot and 'run'.. Change/Configure camera settings?

I ran into this page, that goes over some settings that can be used to configure the camera on your RPi. https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/raspbian/applications/camera.md My current project/set-up is a BIT different though... 1.) I ran this line: sudo sh -c 'grep "bcm2835-v4l2" /etc/modules ...

SOCAT configuration to allow Adobe Flash app to connect to it

I am not clear where my trouble is stemming as I believe all things are set up properly, yet my Flash app STILL can not make a connection to 'SOCAT' to read the incoming serial data from a connected Arduino. Project Summary: **Adobe Flash app** - Written in ActionScript 2 (AS2.0) - This does have a ...

Doe this new line:

Code: Select all

socat -d -d -d -d -x TCP-LISTEN:7777,reuseaddr,fork FILE:/dev/ttyUSB0,b9600,raw&

go after the exit 0 line?

or before?
