The Pi Hut has a nice summary https://thepihut.com/blogs/raspberry-pi ... e-hostname for the command line jockeys.
unfortunately it's wrong...
It points to the line starting with 127.0.0..1 in /etc/hosts. That should be 127.0.1.1 as I stated above.

Curious.
But you can work around the issue easily: "sudo nano /etc/hostname", save and reboot.
It should also be in /etc/hosts (on the line with 127.0.1.1)

Re: Hostname option missing from raspi-config

On current Raspbian it should be 2 (Network options) then N1 (hostname)

Re: Raspberry Pi as a notice board

I know x11vnc is not installed by default so its an apt-get and configure I am afraid (and no - I've not tried it). RealVNC *is* pre-installed on Raspbian these days and it supports connecting to the default display. RPF Documentation: https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/remote-access/vnc/REA...

The pros and cons of each being...?
The halt option causes more wear on the space bar to achieve exactly the same outcome (since they are synonymous).
:D But I often script mine ./off
I actually use <ctrl+r>po<enter>
Just 4 key hits and no space bar.

Re: What happened to the PRINT verb within Python (not lp/r)

In which program do you use the print command?
File Manager, one of the editors (like IDLE, Geany, Code-OSS, ...)?

Do you see the print and print preview options in the File menu if you open a python (or any other file) in the standard text editor

Re: When you turn on Raspberry PI 3, there is no autoplay of the Python code.

Code: Select all

sudo python / home / pi / Documents / Cods_face / ok.py &
In rc.local you don't use sudo.
Also you need to remove the spaces from the path:

Code: Select all

sudo python /home/pi/Documents/Cods_face/ok.py &
If your script does not need the GUI it's better if you use a systemd service file to start the script

This model has no battery and I don't know if the capacitor is capable enough to keep time for a long time as I need. There are others: https://thepihut.com/products/ds1307-rtc-module-with-battery-for-raspberry-pi https://thepihut.com/products/adafruit-pirtc-pcf8523-real-time-clock-for-raspberry-pi...

As @6by9 says.
And if it's that problem an update / upgrade should solve the problem.
It should get you to kernel version 4.14.70

What OS + version do you use?
How do you try to mount the share (manually, fstab, ...)? Please share the exact command you use
Do you get any error messages when you try to mount the share?

Are you sure the NFS server is up and running correctly?

That pandora thing looks like something that should not be started in rc.local but as a service. If it's a systemd journal try 'journalctl'. See e.g. https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-use-journalctl-to-view-and-manipulate-systemd-logs You may need to run it with admin permissio...

Re: Shut down rpi with a keyboard key combo

I've not tried ctrl-alt-del key sequence since I usually do remote access. That might just do the job. By default that starts the taskmanager. You can change the key mapping by manipulating /home/pi/.config/openbox/lxde-pi-rc.xml (at least in standard Raspbian desktop) For more details try searchin...

Is there a way to get back in? I only need the £ symbol for login. Now that It switched to USA keyboard settings, the £ is gone.
Use copy & paste once, then change password?

That's why I pointed you to the other forum. Probably best chance if it's related to the application itself.

A bit lean on information...

What model Pi do you have?
What OS + version?
Is this on the command line or GUI (or both)?
How did you set / change the keyboard layout?

Might be some logs elsewhere,

try `find / -name Xorg.*` and see if it pops up elsewhere.
~/.local/share/xorg
Odd location. But hey... this is X
