Could not bind to address - Services fail to start

I encounter an issue with services not starting on boot with the error that they could not bind to an IP address. This is happening on Raspbian Stretch and Buster. Services affected are e.g. dnsmask, nginx, or apache2. I can easily start the manually after booting fully completed. The issue I think ...

Re: Enable php-apcu on Raspbian Buster with apache2 (nextcloud)

First of all, many thanks for the feedback! I just did a full, new Raspbian installation and it is working fine now. The issue really was, that I followed the manual nextcloud installation for Debian (on nextcloud.com) which explicitely states the php version. I just left out the version part of the...

Re: Enable php-apcu on Raspbian Buster with apache2 (nextcloud)

Hmm, I started with a completely fresh install of the latest Raspbian and then tried to follow the installation instructions on nextcloud.com (taking the section on Debian, which probably was my mistake). Nextcloud suggests the following: apt-get install apache2 mariadb-server libapache2-mod-php7.2 ...

Enable php-apcu on Raspbian Buster with apache2 (nextcloud)

I tried to get the php apcu module enabled on the Raspbian Buster for a nextcloud installation but got stuck. I think the issue goes back to having two php versions in Raspbian Buster: On Buster php 7.2 and 7.3 are installed by default. Installing apcu with 'apt install php-apcu' works fine as such,...

Re: Disk space eaten up by old kernels/modules - remove old kernels

Thanks for the feedback - I manually removed the old kernels/moduls and it seems to be working fine (and finally giving me back my disk-space)!

One question: what is the purpose of "rpi-update" at all (if one should not use it and it only messes up an installation)?

Re: Everything working but onion sites

Maybe first check if you set up tor correctly. In your torrc there should be something like the following: AutomapHostsOnResolve 1 AutomapHostsSuffixes .onion,.exit VirtualAddrNetworkIPv4 10.192.0.0/10 Then just check for the IPs returned from tor for an .onion URL (Linux shell command line): host a...

Disk space eaten up by old kernels/modules - remove old kernels

I'm running low on disk space on my Raspberry Pi running Raspbian Lite. I searched around and found that most of the disk space is used by old kernel modules (I think). What I see is: /lib/modules $ ls -A 4.14.20+ 4.14.33-v7+ 4.14.44+ 4.14.72-v7+ 4.14.78+ 4.14.81-v7+ 4.9.60+ 4.9.68-v7+ 4.9.76+ 4.14....

Re: nftables does not work on raspbian and nf_tables kernel module missing

nftables support was not included in Raspbian Stretch (unlike Debian Stretch) unfortunately. Cf. this ticket:

Re: Raspbian::Stretch

Correct, but hoestly I'm not that eager to build my own kernel for raspbian. Since I read that nftables is part of Debian Stretch now (I couldn't double-check myself yet), my question was why it was removed from Raspbian and when it might be re-enabled. Does anyone know?

Re: Raspbian::Stretch

I have the same question - I was looking for Raspbian Stretch since I (naively) assumed that nftables will be included since it is included in Debian Stretch. I searched around a lot but could not find anything on the topic, i.e. why nftables seems to be part of Debian Stretch but not Raspbian Stret...

Re: [SOLVED] ferm fails to start on rebooting

I do have the same problem (I think). I have a standard installation and almost nothing is installed on top of the standard raspbian lite provided at www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/. I installed ferm via "sudo apt install -y ferm" (after an update and upgrade). I see that ferm just doesn't start afte...

Repository archive.raspberrypi.org as Onion Service (Tor)?

I searched around but can't find the repository which is by standard pointing to http://archive.raspberrypi.org as an onion service (Tor hidden service webpage). Quite some other repos do have such a mirror nowadays - is there one for archive.raspberrypi.org or (if not) are there any plans for it? P...

Re: Raspberry Pi meets a Fitbit One and Galileo

It's working for me in principle fine as well - so many thanks to all the people developing it! One more, final step I would like to achieve is to have it run automatically (even after a reboot) as a daemon. There is a daemon option for galileo but I could not figure out how to setup the init.d part...
