Ublox F9P C099 Serial ports

Hello, I have a dev kit of the ublox f9p (C099) and am having issues getting the serial ports to work on the pi. The dev board has a USB hub that combines 3 usb devices. 2 of these devices are serial ports (over USB), 1 is a true USB port. The true USB port appears to be working fine, but the 2 seri...

Re: basic python question

Your main issue is not using the range function correctly. You are only asking for 3 numbers, see below results. Replace that '3'in your code with a '4' and you should get what you want.

Code: Select all

>>> for index in range(3):
	print index

0

Re: Integrated Python GUI builder and IDE

For quick and easy GUI's try wxPython . It is fast, it is easy, and not sleek looking at all. wxFormBuilder is a program that will allow you to visually create a GUI as well as events and directly output to Python, or a few other languages. This is the simplest solution I have used. FYI - you will t...

Re: Hardware-accelerated real-time plotting

G'day, Has anyone managed to get hardware-accelerated real-time plotting working on their RPi with Python? I'm using PyQt5 without an X environment (using EGLFS), and haven't been able to get VisPy working. I've used PyQtGraph as well as Matplotlib, but both of them use software rendering by defaul...

Re: Need a Modbus RTU slave in python

To me, and admittedly Python is a new language for me, I don't see any way to write to the datastore from another thread/process. I would probably use shared memory in C, but such low level nastiness is frowned upon in Python. And to build what I have to do into the slave so I could use deques or g...

Re: GPS Rover Project

Interesting project! Not much insight into your coding problems here, but make sure you know what you are getting with RTKlib. I read on it extensively and played with it some, however, I ended up putting together a dual frequency RTK system. Most RTKlib users use a single frequency which is usually...

Re: Overheating RP3

Followup - this problem has been solved for some time, but just getting back to updating this thread. The issue was that I thought I had created 3 processes, including 1 very intensive process. What I didn't realize was that using a animated matplotlib plot creates its own intensive process - so I r...

Re: serial communication

+1 on pyserial.

Also make sure your serial connection doesn't need a null modem connection. The TX pin on one end needs to go the RX on the other. Some devices have the TX and RX switched from other devices. You will still be able to open the port, but no data will be read.

systemd autostart using PySide / PyQt

Hello, I have a Python 2.7 script that works fine when starting it from a terminal. The script creates a GUI using PySide. I want the script to run automatically at every bootup, so I created a systemd service. The service creation itself works satisfactory when used with simple test scripts, but no...

Overheating RP3

I'm using an RP3 as a monitor/controller in real time, and am having trouble with the Pi crashing. After searching around and trying things out, I'm pretty sure that the Pi is overheating, although I have never seen the CPU temp get over 80°C. Typically the CPU temp is about 75°C. My program uses th...

Gauge display

I have a Pi and a touchscreen that will be used as a control panel, so gauges, buttons, dials/sliders, that type of thing. I have always used wxPython for GUIs (not on a Pi), but the gauges included in wx don't seem to work on the Pi. Also, the wx look is fine if functionality is the only requiremen...
