Re: Can I use Pi-Top OS without Pi-top Hardware

I wouldn't bother with Pi-Top OS, just use Raspbian from the Rasberry Pi website. Pi-Top is just Raspbian with some extra software to run the Pi-Top hardware. Also the Pi-Top desktop software doesn't work properly, on my CEED I disabled it and just boot to the standard Raspbian desktop. The links ab...

Re: Vnc Connect to a headless Pi

I did "sudo apt update"/"sudo apt ugprade" on my Pi Zero W today, it's been running headless with VNC with no problems at all but after upgrading today it stopped working.

I had to do the solution above to get VNC working again - presumably something has updated and broken it - but its fine now.

Re: There is a big chunk of unallocated space after flashing Raspbian to SD card

In the old days, sounds like its probably changed now, one of the first things we were recommended to do after booting a newly flashed SD card was run the raspi-config program and use the option to expand the file system to use all of the card.

I had this problem with my 3A+ yesterday, thankfully I'd remembered reading this post and the above solution worked for me.

After reading the above I checked and my previous subscriptions were through Select Publishing, they notified me at the end of the subscription. I don't know when it changed to Raspberry Pi Press but no one told me!

Subscription ended with no reminder

I've been a subscriber for a few years and always got a note in with the last issue to say my subscription was about to expire. But not this time. I've been waiting for the January issue (#77) but it hasn't arrived so I emailed to find out why and was told that issue #76 was the last one. Just wonde...

Why would anyone want to pollute a Raspberry Pi with Microsoft's resource hungry OS any way?

OK so we cant' see new posts because of the lack of any searches - but that also means that new posts are probably going to be people asking what has already been answered because they can't search - so maybe we aren't missing much. Of course you can see new posts. The normal indicators are still s...

It looks like the search has been completely disabled. Which means, no menu to look for new posts. Which means (for me): forum not usable at the moment.

Re: Usuable for a basic media system?

So you're going to guilt your parents into lugging around a bag full of messy wires that won't do anything that their CELL PHONES won't do 100 times better? Probably like my parents, only have cellphones to make phone calls! Plus, have you seen the price of a cellphone that does all that these days?

Re: Move Pi home from SD card to a HDD (Given up)

I wish I could remember what I did. On my Pi2 I wanted to do the same thing, put the home folder on an external drive, I did that and got it working then realized I could put the whole OS on the external drive.

I have dump1090 on one Pi with an RTL-SDR dongle and an antenna from a radio scanner store. Works as well on the Pi as on a desktop computer.

Like someone else said, its good to know you are receiving the data yourself not downloading it from the internet.

The first game I remember playing was a lunar lander game I wrote for part of my computer studies exam, it was on a Research Machines computer in BASIC between 1980 and 1982. The first proper game was probably something I'd typed into a Sinclair ZX81 in 1983, and the first game I can actually rememb...

It would be more sense if the box the Pi came in had www.raspberrypi.org emblazoned across it. I keep seeing posts on Google+ from people who don't seem to know the official website and are always grateful when I reply with the link.
