Re: Missing something - Kodi issues

Have you tried LibreElec Operating system? (Just enough OS for Kodi it boasts). You can now download an exe file for the PC that will load and configure it before you transfer the card to the Pi, there are also versions that come with Kodi included so you get a full install ready to go.. I just did ...

Re: Disabling IPV6, yep that old Chestnut again.. SOLVED!

I could see much new writing on the sheets I had taken with the Pi and left with my friend, when I went to collect it, so I didn't take much notice of his description thinking i could study it all at home later. The writing said nothing about the actual resolution. However, apparently one of the Ne...

Re: Disabling IPV6, yep that old Chestnut again..

I think I have a bit of a lifeline as one of our development team has been using a Pi at home so I'll let him borrow this one to try on his home network. I'll purchase a spare card too for a copy of his OS. I'm sure I'll need one sometime anyway. I'll let you guys know what happens, when it does......

It does look like your luck is out.. that item appears to have the designation U16, it is almost certainly an IC (Chip) and the chances of a replacement are about nil..

Re: Disabling IPV6, yep that old Chestnut again..

Ah, OK we have a confusing thread going on here. As for Woflie's problems. I don't know if this has been done yet but I suspect the thing to do is start over with a fresh Raspian install. Which should of course just work. If it does not, then we have a known baseline to investigate. I really don't ...

Re: Disabling IPV6, yep that old Chestnut again..

Is there a way to clear the arp table on your default gateway? Or at least remove the entry for your Pi on the gateway? Does a gateway that does both ipv4 and ipv6 maintain two arp tables, one for each type of IP address? I can't find any reference to ARP tables in settings, it's the bog standard h...

Re: Disabling IPV6, yep that old Chestnut again..

Hi, Yep I just did several runs removing the DHCP Static IP in the router then configuring this (rather silly and uninformative) Network Preferences on the Pi. Ping doesn't get a reply from the router, it says "ICMP open socket: operation not permitted".. right ho, but my confusion continues since ...

Hi Dougie (I've missed out some of the in between replies since they seem to have no bearing here).. I have run them as you asked and here are the results, they were run with the network in the fa...

Re: Disabling IPV6, yep that old Chestnut again..

OK guys, put the boxing gloves away.. I stated "damn" IPV6 at the start because I never met it before and never needed it, I know little of how it works or more sepcifically why it doesn't, and still see no reason why I would need it when everything has always worked just fine and dandy without it....

Re: My Raspberry pi 2 B is overheating !

Welcome Rex, new to Pi myself but hardware FF is my area. I can't get too deep with Pi specific help, just general Fault Finding.. Firstly if you are handy with a multimeter then check there is only 5v coming from the original supply and no more. Some el cheapo supplies have a lot more than 5v outp...

I did the dhclient again and forced IPV4. Now I get the full route to Google.com in 9 hops, but the details for wlan0 haven't altered at all (apart from the packets sent/received of course). This is what it said at the dhclient command.. don't know if this helps. dhclient.jpg[/attachm...

Hi MFA.. I have to admit that while I understand IPV4 fairly well, IPV6 workings are still a mystery and in the realms of witchcraft.. This is my first encounter. I did an(other) ifconfig to check those Wlan0 details. Hmmm... I have forced the (--.15) address...

Disabling IPV6, yep that old Chestnut again.. IS SOLVED

Only three days out of the box and I already feel like I know this Pi thing inside out having already surmounted several problems assisted by Mr DuckDuckgo. However, the Pi is made of sterner stuff and continues to thwart my puny efforts in getting it online from Boot up. The reason this Pi (Debian...
