Unable to access webcam

I am a complete beginner with very little technical knowledge. I have a Raspberry Pi3 with Raspberry camera attached, and I am trying to install a motion-triggered camera. I have been following the directions listed here . However, when I type in the suggested IP address and the port number my Chrom...

Raspberry Pi Amazon Alexa Project

I have been following the guide here in order to create a Raspberry Pi version of the Amazon Alexa. However, when I get to Step 7, and specifically the second terminal window, I get as far as the pop up but cannot proceed any further. When I click on the link, I get the Chromium screen warning that ...

Re: How To Rotate Screen 180 Degrees?

I'm having the same issue. Is it possible to clarify (for an absolute beginner) exactly where I should be adding lcd_rotate=2 ? I can access terminal using sudo nano /boot/config.txt and then I am faced with a block of text. The Pimoroni site (where I bought the touchscreen) say that I should add lc...

Re: Where do I add text to rotate screen?

Many thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, when I hold the shift key down on starting up it just eventually takes me to the desktop. I see the four raspberries with a couple of lines, a white screen with a Raspberry logo saying Welcome to Pixel then my desktop (finger on shift throughout).

Re: Where do I add text to rotate screen?

Okay, so I now understand that you write LCD_rotate=2 at the bottom of the text that comes up on the screen when you type in sudo nano /boot/config.txt However, even though I have done this and then pressed exit before clicking Y to save, nothing changes when I reboot the Pi. The screen is still ups...

Where do I add text to rotate screen?

There are plenty of guides about rotating the Raspberry Pi 7 inch touchscreen 180 degrees so that it is the right way up when adding a case. However, after half an hour Googling I do not understand exactly where I need to add lcd_rotate=2 to the /boot/config.txt file. I have entered Terminal and I h...

Re: Pi won't boot and red light showing

Ah, I read that I should write: sudo shut-down -h now when I closed down the Raspberry Pi. If this isn't what I should do, then what is the best way to close it down? The last time I clicked on the Shutdown option from the dropdown menu on the desktop.

Re: Pi won't boot and red light showing

I should also add that the USB WiFI dongle is also flashing. How should I shut it down if it is not responding? Can I simply unplug it? The help pages re: Raspberry not booting suggest writing a code but there is no way I can do this at the moment.

Re: Pi won't boot and red light showing

Etcher made that whole process a whole lot easier, many thanks. I have now inserted the new card and after a few green flashes, I still have a red light and no image on the TV screen. Any ideas?

Re: Pi won't boot and red light showing

Many thanks for your help. I can only think that I damaged the SD card by shutting it down too quickly. I just clicked on the Shutdown dropdown option on the desktop and then switched it off at the mains. I've read in other places that you are supposed to write some code to shut it down. Will defini...

Re: Pi won't boot and red light showing

I'm going to give this another go this morning as a quick check has shown that the SD card I thought I had copied to is blank. I don't know where the download of Raspbian has ended up but not on the SD card. I think that this is because I copied 'Path_of_your_image' literally rather than actually pu...

Re: Pi won't boot and red light showing

Many thanks. From what I can understand, the most likely reason will be that a fault has developed with my micro SD card. This seems bizarre given that it was working an hour beforehand. Nevertheless: do I need to purchase another SD card with Raspbian pre-loaded or has it already been installed on ...

Pi won't boot and red light showing

Hi. I am a complete newcomer to Raspberry Pi and my lack of knowledge means that many of the things I have read on this site related to this issue are a little incomprehensible to me at the present. My issue is this: I have received a Raspberry Pi 3 for Christmas and this is a starter kit which incl...
