Yes, James' instructions are perfect. There are two differences. The first one is to add denyinterfaces wlan0 in /etc/dhcpcd.conf. Some AP setting instructions ask you to do this and some do not. The second one is whether to comment out the allow-hotplug wlan0 or not. From James' correct instruction...

Hi, I follow the instruction of http://elinux.org/RPI-Wireless-Hotspot to configure my Pi3 as an AP. All the Apple devices (Mac, iPhone, iPad) can connect to the Pi without any problem. Thanks for the information. The problem of compute module is that there is no onboard WiFi. Looks like we have to use Pi 3 first and then request a customized Pi board.
