Does anyone have the time and is willing to risk a Pi to a 170 MB hosts file?

A Web host is needed for the file so we can all share it. (Github has limits, they have raised them but not enough for a single file) The hosts file is from many sources. It blocks all sorts of things. Its the list I publish and maintain for The https://pi-hole.net/ and my own personal Pi-Hole on a ...

Re: My pi3 SD card gets filled up quickly

Would you be so kind to share what block lists you are using and the number of queries you have in a day?

The /etc/pi-hole stores all your lists and Gravity.list effective doubling what you download.

Yacy search server on Pi 3 host file. Experimental

Warning use at own risk. The hosts file it does really brake things study the list carefully before use. This is not a recommended practice by yacy.net. Re: Power for an external HDD

You could try one of those cheap USB powered hub but make sure you remove the +5 Volt inside to the USB cord going to the Pi to save frying it.

I tried to setup a raid with 2 drives but there is a power problem like yours.

Re: Chromium tab crashes if video

Just out of interest How many of your Pi's have black heatsinks? I found after 4-5 hours of full screen videos my Pi's without heatsinks used to lockup. Also I have set 272 mb of video memory in the Raspberry Pi Configuration page. You can right click on a youtube video and select Stats for Nerds an...

Re: Slow wget when changing routers

Is it possible that both Pi's have the same network name?
You can install

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install arp-scan
and run

Code: Select all

arp-scan -l
once to see if there is a duplicate MAC address present on each Pi.

I Installed QB64 on a RaspberryPi 3 B

I started with installing the library's from the setup_lnx.sh for Debian. sudo apt-get install g++ libsdl-image1.2-dev libsdl-mixer1.2-dev libsdl-net1.2-dev libsdl-ttf2.0-dev libsdl1.2-dev I then came across this post at the QB64 Forum http://www.qb64.net/forum/index.php?topic=13926.0 That indicated...

Try this for much heavier load than a bash loop:- wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ssvb/cpuburn-arm/master/cpuburn-a53.S gcc -o cpuburn-a53 cpuburn-a53.S ./cpuburn-a53 You can measure the temperature with:- vcgencmd measure_temp Or see this script to get the temp continuously and much other i...

The Pi will automatically throttle back the clock speed if it gets too hot...unless you force the issue, in which case: fried Pi.
Thanks. Thats good to know.

Re: Debian Jessie with PIXEL desktop i386 for PC and Mac

I have the game Quake 4 running on mine and with lan players as well.

This uses PlayOnLinux, you might have to add "contrib non-free" to /etc/apt/sources.list
I had to copy an install from an XP Box.

You kick off play on playonlinux drive with installing Directx 9c sdk.

If the refresh rate is to high in vertical Hz or the horizontal resolution is too high the TV will display that sort of message.
Not sure how to fix.

If you are running Win10 try with Rufus https://rufus.akeo.ie/
You may need to switch to DD burn mode but first try the defaults.

It also has a check for bad blocks!

You could try this but you have to install 1 prog.
https://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/debian-ub ... le-system/

You may need to change ro to rw not too sure do it at your own risk.
I gave up in the end and went ext4 and mounted it in /etc/fstab with UUID..
