.If (like me) your not well versed or confident in the surgery need in taking micro springs out of delicate Pis ....another shortcut method to solve this i discovered was a couple of gentle elastic band around the pi the tension of which holds the SD card down and in place... marvelous,

Hey I reckon it was a firewall / anti virus definition thing as managed to download it on phone via data. Then uploaded to my cloud n downloaded on PC that way.

Arse about face but it worked and not I have a fine reimaged RetroPie. Happy man
