Well I got a cheap old desktop to try the hdmi input and it works, still no joy with rpi though.

no and the cable you linked is just an extension cable for the camera, probably not going to work well for hdmi anymore.

Try a better sdcard, I have a pi3 and with a cheap sdcard from argos it freezes up just like you describe. However same system and pi but better sdcard runs like a dream.

Could you not add time.sleep(0.1) at the beginning of the while true loop then increment a value by one for every loop, every ten loops would be roughly one second :?: and an if statement to check and quit on the required time. If you want to save the data then write it to a file

I have the same Problem sich a pi 3, when pressing control-alt-F1 it goss to console and I See error...something along the lines oft dircolours missing?
