Re: Unable to disable I2c in Jessie Pixel

I did the following to some of the config files as a quick fix, but it doesn't work on /boot sudo chattr +i /etc/modprobe.d/raspi-blacklist.conf sudo chattr +i /etc/modules However for sudo chattr +i /boot/config.txt i get the following: chattr: Inappropriate ioctl for device while reading flags on ...

Re: Unable to disable I2c in Jessie Pixel

Hi pcmanbob, The SD card is definitely not in read only mode because the terminal stores all my old commands after reboot, and if I try deleting the entire string with the setting, but it just magically reappears at the bottom of the file after reboot. But I have also tried creating a text file in m...

Unable to disable I2c in Jessie Pixel

Hi, I'm not entirely sure why, but I'm suddenly unable to disable the I2C driver in Jessie with Pixel. I have tried sudo raspi-config but when I reboot its back on, so I tried preferences/Raspberry Pi Configuration/Interfaces but its the same deal. When I launch the app again its enabled, or if I re...

Re: Python Script not starting on Boot

Hi Garthy,

Yes I didn't have xscreensaver installed, I'll give it a try and see if that makes things easier.

Thanks for all the added pointers, very useful. I will continue to look into this, to see if there is a better way to implement this and then I will add the updates here.

Thanks again.

Re: Python Script not starting on Boot

Hi Garthy, Thanks the LXDE autostart did the trick! My Script launches successfully and xset works now. I also looked and couldn't find any power options under the main menu. I experimented with DPMS and trying to get the HDMI on the Pi to switch off and not just blank. The problem with the PiTop Di...

Re: Python Script not starting on Boot

Ok, I completely understand why xset will not work without the GUI. Long story short I have a pitop running Jessie with pixel because I don't like the PiTop OS. I have figured out everything except for how to turn off the screen when the screen blanks. My script queries xset every second to see if t...

Re: Python Script not starting on Boot

Hi pcmanbob, Thanks for the response, I made the adjustments and found that my scrip is running. However it seems like my script has a different outcome if its autostarted, or if I'm manually starting it. The following script checks if the screen is being blanked on my pitop so that it can turn of t...

Python Script not starting on Boot

Hi, I have a python script in Jessie, which I'm trying to start on boot but it will not. I have tested my script and it works when run manually ./PiTopScreen.sh and it does not require the GUI to be started. /etc/pitop/PiTopScreen.sh #!/bin/sh # PiTopScreen.sh (sleep 10; python /etc/pitop/screensave...

Global Alsamixer equaliser

Hi all, i have a RPI3 running Jessie Pixel, the Pi3 has a HifiBerry AMP attached. The amp works, and through a lot of trial and error I finally managed to get the alsamixer equaliser to work some of the time. To make it work I did the following: $ sudo nano /boot/config.txt #dtparam=audio=on $ sudo ...

Hopefully not too late, I got distracted with other problems. Here is a simple Python example.... Cant remember where I found it. import smbus import time bus = smbus.SMBus(1) address = 0x0b import gtk def message(data=None): "Function to display messages to the user." msg=gtk.MessageDialog(None, gt...

I found this and ACPI as well as the battery indicator does work on the PI. Hopefully this helps someone else, it took me a long time to find this:

Re: How does ACPI work in Jessie

1.) How does ACPI work in this environment? My initial instinct is that "it doesnt". I believe ACPI is a PC BIOS/Motherboard thing, the interfaces between battery and laptop is more advanced that a simple usb-charger port which is what the Pi have. Edit: I don't know what extra circuitry is added b...

Add custom Panel Applet plugin to Panel

Hi, Does anyone know how to create or add an existing application as a plugin to a panel on Raspbian Jessie with Pixel? I'm not talking about a shortcut, I can do that. What I want is to have a battery indicator for my Pi-Top in between my CPU usage and Clock Panel Applets. When googling i only get ...

Single instance Python script terminal arguments after start

I have a python script that can accept arguments from startup. This script is constantly doing work in the background and should not be stopped or have a second instance generated as it will cause GPIO conflicts. How do I call this script that's already running from a terminal so that I can give it ...

Re: Netflix on Pi 2

Sorry I haven't had time to re-do the tutorial. I have, however, created a .deb file which will: 1. Install the widevide libraries automatically, if you have chromium installed, and 2. create a launcher for netflix with the appropriate user-agent and place it in your "Internet" menu. You can downlo...
