Used 2 Raspberry Pi as network attached cameras, a switch and a third to process all the data?

The nginx wiki and Google are fine sites. The default install's config file is pretty self explanatory.

I have no experience of Own Cloud, but I noticed that your script installs apache2. Is this necessary? Nginx will have a much better performance on the Raspberry Pi.

Re: Minor improvements for a model C

One solution to the USB hardware problems is for the community to develop a stackable USB hub. Such a hub could be externally powered, power the Raspberry Pi, and by a hub at the same time. It could include an ethernet interface, but I would say no to this suggestion as it could be another expansion...

Re: Minor improvements for a model C

On the Raspi, the power connector is Micro USB. That's the Raspi 'standard', if you want to be picky. It could easily have been a barrel connector or something custom like Apples. It isn't. It's micro USB. Chosen because it's used in Europe (By a European Union directive) for smartphone chargers, g...

Try it with any stream, but make sure you don't use -vcodec copy, as that's cheating.

Re: Re-encode video on the fly from Sopcast

I find the best links come from searching for `man ffmpeg`, a great reference is http://linux.die.net/man/1/ffmpeg.

Let's get video working first - disable audio by passing `-an`. Once that is working, try using MP3 with a 192k bitrate.

Re: Minor improvements for a model C

None of the points you mentioned matter to the educative goals. You're allowed to use raspi as whatever (it's yours, you bought it), but don't expect any hardware changes for non-critical aspects. I agree with your sentiment, but not everything you have said... USB power: Works fine for its intende...

Re: Re-encode video on the fly from Sopcast

First try

Code: Select all

ffmpeg -i HTTP://127.0.0.1:8902 -vcodec copy -fmp4 out.mp4
Kill it after 30 seconds... The main thing we want to see here is that it tries to generate output without giving up.

I downloaded the zip file from https://github.com/alexchamberlain/rpi_manage_live , unzipped it to a USB stick, and found the releng/root-image/root/install.txt file. It references https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Installation_Guide for making an Arch Linux CD. This is totally not ready, but at...

Re: Minor improvements for a model C

Some time back I suggested developing a board the same size as the Pi PCB to contain a powered USB hub, power supply (for itself and the Pi) with a power switch,and--optionally--a couple of other things, like an active HDMI-to-VGA subsystem. The idea would be to then design a case that stacked the ...

I very much doubt that the RPi is giving off any interfering signals - it did go through CE testing afterall. It's much more likely the network configuration has been mucked up.

The OP wants to transcode on a PC, so that the Pi can decode H264 instead of VC-1.
