Re: On/Off switch

You can use the Windows.System.ShutdownManager class from within your code. https://marcominerva.wordpress.com/2016/12/13/how-to-shutdown-a-windows-10-iot-core-device-from-a-uwp-app/ So either monitor a button attached to one of the GPIO pins or put a software button on screen that is hidden or has ...

Mecanum Bot controlled by Raspberry Pi and Xbox Controller

We decided to build a Mecanum Bot this week. We called it the Mecanum Bot because it uses the Mecanum wheels that allows for some mad moves. http://pthat.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/Mecanum-BOT3.jpg Link for bigger image http://pthat.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/Mecanum-BOT3.jpg As you can see ...

The problem is that I can only connect to my Raspberry P3 device with Windows 10 iot remote deskop via my desktop pc, not from my windows tablet or windows 10 laptop Deleted what I posted before. Seems the Windows IoT Remote Client is not like the RDP client. https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/store/p...

Re: Installing apps on Raspberry Pi 9 IOT

I think you can only use that for converting applications that are compiled already for Windows desktop that run on X86/X64 processors. You would probably need to to get the source code and port it over in Visual Studio into a Universal Application, then choose to compile for the ARM processor and d...

The Pulse Train Hat is an add-on board for the Rapsberry Pi computer and allows clean, fast and accurate pulses to be created using simple ASCII commands. http://pthat.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/4F-1.png There are many hardware designs where a variable frequency pulse is needed, but one that is ...

Re: How to test Raspberry PI3's GPIO controller?

Check this page out https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/iot/docs/pinmappingsrpi It has an example showing how to toggle the I/O ports on and off. So just connect resistor and LED to the pin you want to test and do this for each pin. All the peripherals seem to default as I/O pins Cheers Sean

Re: USB serial and WIN10IOT

You will need to convert your old legacy applications into Universal Applications within Visual Studio 2015.

Not so easy to convert the Windows Forms over as the Universal Applications use a XAML GUI, so time consuming but can be done.

Cheers

Re: USB to RS232 (COM) options

I just checked and the FT232 USB>Serial adapter gets picked up okay this end

Windows build 10.0.14393.1066

Also ran one of our programs up that uses serial comms and it enumerates/lists the Raspberry serial port and the FTDI adapter, both connect okay and send/receive data.

Cheers

New Pulse Train Hat released

We have launched the Pulse Train Hat (PTHAT) for the Raspberry PI tonight ! Rather than do a Kickstarter like most new Hats, we decided to go full out on it and get a production run sorted, as we are confident after a lot of testing that it will be of interest to people. Please check out http://www....

Works okay on Vmplayer.

Created New Virtual Machine.

Pointed to the 2016-12-13-pixel-x86-jessie.iso as installer image.

Chose Windows 95 and left default settings.

On boot chose Persistence and worked like a dream.

They are Frame Rate counters. You can turn them off if annoying. https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/apps/windows.ui.xaml.debugsettings.enableframeratecounter.aspx In you App.xaml.cs Change this.DebugSettings.EnableFrameRateCounter = true; to this.DebugSettings.EnableFrameRateCounter = ...

Re: Would like to control some motors, but where to start? H

Hi Alex I think the first thing you need to decide is if you are planning to make a motor driver yourself from the ground upwards or if you are going to use a 3rd party interface. I take it you are wanting to control a DC motor or a Servo from your first post, rather than a stepper motor. So the fir...
