Re: Synchronising four standalone raspberry pi sequencers.

Thanks myoung008, I was glad when I read your response as I had already started coding it. The current running code holds the start/stop/step variables and more so it should line up quite nicely. Cheers!

Synchronising four standalone raspberry pi sequencers.

Hi I would like to run an idea past you. I have been working on these sequencers for a while now http://pi.hardwiredonline.co.uk/. I have built two of each and I would like to synchronise them for live performance's. I have been trying to work out the best way to do it. A little back groud; All four...

Adafruit Trellis/Raspberry Pi pattern based sequencer

Hi I have built better hardware for my sequencer, its based around the raspberry pi and adafruit trellis and is quite affordable to build. I have written a how to guide on how I built it and a video with annotations. Thanks Barry New Software version.... playpi.hardwiredonline.co.uk/view-page.php?id...

Hi
I'm not sure if you are still working on this, but I used the mixer from pygame for my drum machine/sequencer project.

Re: PI/GPIO Protection

I was planing to wire the +12volt in serial from a 12 volt port supply. I plan to wire up "-" to the MCP23017 and switch the polarity to input. As long as the current does not exceed 25mA (the per pin limit) I was hoping I could switch on the bulbs by completing the circuit. Not now though! I was g...

Re: My Simple Multi Room Audio Project

Can you let me know more about how you have DAB working? I am thinking of trying to get this working in my car but would like to know what USB receiver you are using and what you had to do to set it up and how it presents itself in YATSE? Yeah no problem. I bought two "ITE Inc. Zolid Mini DVB-T Sti...

Re: RPi Drum Machine with Hydrogen

Well here's the first look, sorry in advanced I have a cold, and the video itself is a little blurry at times. The white button on the top left starts and stops the sequencer thread, the others 23 control what ever options are available in the menu thread, there is a 3rd tread which is a pipe from t...

Re: RPi Drum Machine with Hydrogen

Not yet, but I am still working on it. Work has been very very busy and I have just finished this, http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=30240&p=272652#p272652. So I have moved back to this project again. I was just getting my mpc23017's working this evening only to find the 2nd one...

Re: My Simple Multi Room Audio Project

I have to say syncing playback from the pi upstairs to the pi down stairs and visa versa is the next thing I want to get sorted out. I would like to keep everything as it is now and just add the functionality on top of what I have already got. As that's working quite well for us. Just need to a few ...

Re: My Simple Multi Room Audio Project

Yep! One pi drives all the amplifiers. No need for a preamp. We are limited to the same audio in every room. As the girls are quite young there's not really a requirement for separate audio in each room. Nevertheless its really easy to add another pi and plug it into samba/TVHeadend/shoutcast. When ...

My Simple Multi Room Audio Project

I wanted to have music/radio in all the rooms upstairs in my house, but it normally costs a fortune for multi room audio kit! So I decided with the help of a Pi and a plaster board saw to do it myself! The Pi itself runs raspbmc, its connected wirelessly to my main samba server so it can play flac/m...

Re: PI/GPIO Protection

Thanks for your time everyone. I think I will go with 2 x MCP23017 (as I already have them). Wire the LED's in serial, but I am going to bench the setup first using small standard LED's. I am also going to measure the current of the 12 volt LEDS to make sure the GND does not exceed the maximum curre...

Re: PI/GPIO Protection

I want to do the setup below, to be able to control 24 12volt LEDs, Instead of using the £30 board in the picture I was going to use 2xMCP23017 (I2C) 16-bit I/O Port Expander (£2.00) chained together (not that I actually know how to get one going at the minute, but hey that's that the pi is all abou...

PI/GPIO Protection

Is there a simple circuit I can buy or make that will allow me to protect my pi from mistakes in physical computing. I.E putting 12 volts though the gpio pin's!
Thanks

Independently control 21 12V LED's via my pi.

I am writing/building a sequencer which has 21 buttons. Each button is equipped with a 12V led. I want to be able to control them via the gpio pins. I have a 12V power supply that I was thinking of daisy chaining across all 21 LED's, then all I would need to do is connect each LED to negative when e...

Re: RPi Drum Machine with Hydrogen

I managed to get 21 buttons into mine in the end! Looks cool though!! I have written some python so the samples are trigged on button presses. Just leaning threading now so I get the sequencer going.
The USB led driver for the buttons is £30, so I am going to see if I can do it via gpio.

Re: RPi Drum Machine with Hydrogen

To cut a long story short its "press button = make noise". So I have ordered 24 buttons and a USB controller to connect it to the pi. These will go into a gutted ps2. I decided to call the project "PlayPi". While I'm waiting for the buttons to arrive I have started to write a little code. So far so ...
