Re: The PlyPi

Hi everyone (especially Johannes and kieranc) I'm sorry it's taken such a long time - I've had a very busy year (first part of a two-part marriage, an exhibition and some boring health stuff) and so it's taken much too long to get the plans computerised. But they're now ready! You can download them ...

Re: Media Center plywood Case with Hard Drive

Absolutely love it :) I have a second Pi ready to set up as a media player, so have a plan for a second case. How are you getting on with actually using it? Do you notice much noise from the fan? Very jealous of the lettering - that really looks great.

Re: The PlyPi

That aside, I've seem some 'eco' tower cases made from corrigated card - perhaps there could be a poor/lazy man's version made from corregated card layers PVAed together? Perhaps people could download printable templates and cut their own? Hope you feel suitably proud. http://www.raspberrypi.org/ph...

Re: The PlyPi

Right, I'm off to find out VESA mount measurements... Ah, well, that was far less complicated than I thought. Although the PlyPi is rather undecided. Long ways it wants to be a 100mm and short ways it wants to be a 75mm. I wonder what it'd look like stretched to accommodate...? And although I didn'...

Re: The PlyPi

no compiment required from me but have one anyway - its my favourite - is it intentionally vesa mount shaped? Should be possible to create a laser cutting vector file template to batch produce these if someone was feeling enterprising enough... I thought about the VESA issue recently. I wonder how ...

Re: The PlyPi

Just a quick update for everyone - at the weekend I needed to run a slideshow over a good few hours and I thought this a good opportunity to see how the case dealt with heat. I'm pleased to say that, after seven hours scrolling through 100+ large images, the Pi is still 100% solid with no apparent s...

Love the concept! When you've got it set up on the shelf you'll have to share a photo.

You cannot even begin to understand how very honoured I feel to have inspired such an...achievement! Honestly, I can't think of anything made of sticky-back plastic that I've liked more. And what's more, thewomanoutside likes it very much too, and she's a hard one to please! Now, you just need to fi...

Re: The PlyPi

How do you connect to the GPIO pins with this (and other) closed designs I wonder? As rurwin says, I'm not really intending to play much with the GPIO pins at the moment. In the future this will (I hope) change. For example, when the camera module becomes available, I think it would be nice to sink...

Re: The PlyPi

Amazing looking case! Perhaps you could countersink the bolts and raise the side up a bit on the top, and lower on the bottom so you could make them stackable. Have you had any problem with overheating? I am working on one like this, but out of plastic and with an LED showing power on. I will post ...

Re: The PlyPi

Looking at it again, the layers can not be independent; you have to glue some of them together because otherwise you wont get any casing between the USB and Ethernet sockets for example. So all acrylic is out, since if you glue layers together it looks rubbish. But if you just inserted one acrylic ...

Re: The PlyPi

Dear all, Thank you so much for your kind words. One of the things I like most about the Pi has been the great sense of helpful community that's sprung up with it. This is another example and it really is appreciated. I've been wanting to put together a wooden computer case for a while now and this ...

The PlyPi

I've really been enjoying looking through the other case designs and ideas. Here's my contribution - the PlyPi http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7073/7179361875_b10a24a172.jpg http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5195/7179354559_31781edf43.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7082/7364583950_fbf70e442e.jpg I used...
