Re: Trouble updating original Pi to latest Raspbian

Larger cards are not a problem, if you don't expand the filesystem on the image before inserting it into the PI and booting, it will automatically expand on the first boot. As you are able to burn the image to the 8GB micro SD card with the adapter, you can assume the micro SD and adapter connection...

Re: Unable to delete directory

Note that I am not an expert with either LXDE nor PCManFM, but I believe PCManFM is configured to automatically mount USB storage devices. You can change this behavior by opening the file manager, PCManFM. Navigate to Edit > Preferences > Volume Management. Then you probably need to uncheck both: - ...

SOLVED: Red PWR LED stopped working, boots normally

Solved sort of. Although the LEDs exhibited problems with and without the case (C4Labs), I theorized that maybe the case was applying pressure to the board or components. While experimenting with the case screws (tightening and loosening) I was able to cause Both the PWR and ACT LEDs to light, altho...

Re: Red PWR LED stopped working, boots normally

Followup: Voltage across PWR LED was indeed 3V3, and mysteriously the LED is now lit. So it is not dead. Multiple bad power supplies are not out of the question. But oddly, the ACT LED is now not working. When creating a large file, it now remains off. So I can only conclude there is a transient pro...

Re: Red PWR LED stopped working, boots normally

Yes, I see the error in my troubleshooting logic now. I was magically limiting the potential open circuit to the LED, when the transistor could have been an open circuit as well when measuring current.

Thanks for your help!

Re: Red PWR LED stopped working, boots normally

I isolated the problem to the LED with a multimeter. I measured 470 ohms between 3V (Pin 1) and PP10, so the resistor is good. With the power on, I measured 7 mA between GND (Pin 9) and PP10, this tells me both that the transistor is working and that the LED is indeed bad. Time to source the LED, an...

Re: Red PWR LED stopped working, boots normally

No, neither a lightning bolt, nor a multicolored square are present. I am running the Raspbian Pixel desktop, switching to console (Ctrl-Alt-F1) shows neither as well.

Red PWR LED stopped working, boots normally

Greetings, Red power LED on a Raspberry Pi 3 ceased working last night, so I turned it off. Turned it on this morning, still no red power LED, but boots normally. The power supply is 5V 2A. It has been connected to HDMI monitor, and has a wireless keyboard/mouse combination attached and nothing else...
