How do i clone a bigger SD card to smaller one ?

In this scenario i have 2 SD cards, a 16G and a 8G, the source is from 16G SD card but actual disk capacity usage is less than 8G(after i shrink it). I try to use diskimager to clone, but it reads the card as 16G, refused to write into the 8G SD card. I did some google and ppl suggesting using dd to...

Re: Mysql error

I m not sure which log u are talking about, for mysql server, there are many types of log http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.7/en/server-logs.html Many of the logs, you need to enable it before it will write to disk, because it slows down the server whenever it write something to the disk, by default...

1) If it cant start, ... no log =P, and what log u are looking for ? start up log, transaction log ? 2) According to mysql official page, the default value for innodb_buffer_pool_size is 134217728, which is 128mB. http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.5/en/innodb-parameters.html#sysvar_innodb_buffer_poo...

Re: Mysql error

or add this innodb-buffer-pool-size=10000000 thats 10mB, i think by default it uses more than 100mB, u should do some reading and test the performance of your database after you added that. * according to your error message Jan 6 22:15:56 raspberrypi mysqld: 150106 22:15:56 InnoDB: Initializing buff...

i would say stress test it, if it unable to run stable, reduce the clock speed and test again. not all pi are the same.

Re: Do I Need to Delete .pyc Files

sometimes you do need to delete them, when you execute a .py file, .pyc will be generated, execution will based on .pyc file, most of the time, python will regenerate the .pyc file when it detected a change in .py file, but there is a chance python thinks that it dont have to, and simply just execut...

Still have SD card corruption issue?

Hi all, I am an old member, and i has not been following with raspbian improvement/changes for a while. Few years ago(2012-2013), SD corruption was a big issue, when there is a sudden power lose, there is a nice chance of the pi will not be able to boot up anymore because of corruption. I did a basi...

Re: Can a third party produce their CM?

What he said. We (not the Raspi Foundation) are currently working on a board with a different chip on that uses the same pinout as the CM. But we won't be able to use Raspbian. Board is actually quite a bit bigger as it's a physically bigger chip and needs lots of power management. But it means we ...

eMMC security

Can somebody without password have any easy direct access into the eMMC?

Compare to pi, anybody can simply pull out the SD card from pi and plug it into a pc then can have full access of everything in the SD card. Can the same method apply to the CM ?

Re: Few question about the CM

eMMC devices have additional safeguards against breaking them by yanking the power in the middle of a write. The FTL inside them is capable of running in a copy-on-write mode: it's painfully slow but guarantees that all block writes either fail and report failure or succeed across power cycles. Doe...

We know that there is a chance of corruption ...
