Re: PI4 no signal on new Sony tv

I would suggest getting a new SD card (not expensive, and it will always be useful in the future) and burning a new virgin copy of Raspberry PiOS onto it, and trying that. Get the hardware going first, and once that's OK, THEN swap back to your original SD card, and investigate the configuration iss...

Re: Can't set up Pi Zero in headless mode!

Yes, I've just added a link in my previous post to another article about using the PiZero in gadget mode - as I assume Tom's Hardware guide attempt, and as rpdom helpfully suggested above too.

Sorry I haven't' ever done that myself - can't help much more...

Re: Can't set up Pi Zero in headless mode!

True, you don't HAVE to connect it to the internet to do some projects, but you have a choice: - either run it headless, and use your inhouse network to talk to it from another computer, or - connect a keyboard and screen to the Pi directly, and run it in complete isolation, or - connect it via USB ...

Re: Can't set up Pi Zero in headless mode!

Just scanning your post - if it's a PiZero (NOT W), how are you expecting to connect it to your network? Am I missing something obvious here, or are you?? :) You need to add either: - a USB-to-wired Ethernet dongle, and an Ethernet patch cable to your router, or - a USB-wifi dongle (in which case th...

Re: Chromium UI Scaling

On Raspbian Desktop, have you tried Preferences menu: Raspberry Pi Configuration: Display: Pixel Doubling? It will affect the display size of everything, and you may have to set a lot of the things you've already done back to "normal" but it works well for me on a large HD TV screen across the livin...

Re: raspberry pi zero and ssh

https://elinux.org/RPi_USB_Ethernet_adapters ...and of course, if you look through the reviews of the cheap adapters on Amazon, the successful use on a Pi is often confirmed. If you can identify the chip used inside a working adapter, then find a cheap no-name model with the same chip (on eBay or Al...

Re: raspberry pi zero and ssh

I guess it's not a Pi Zero W? so you could try WiFi instead of wired? Maybe you'll have to connect a keyboard and screen directly to the Pi Zero, at least temporarily, to see what's going on. Maybe the USB-to-Ethernet dongle you have is not compatible with the Pi's OS? You haven't got the power inpu...

Re: raspberry pi zero and ssh

Did you put an empty file named "ssh" in the /boot/ root folder before you tried this?

Easiest to do this with the PC when you first burn the SD card.

Also: does a network monitor program (from another device on the network) show the Pi Zero as having been issued with an IP address?

Re: Simple plug and play media player for my grandfather.

If he has a reasonably recent TV, it will have the inbuilt function “HDMI-CEC” and that means the TV remote will control the Pi running Libreelec+Kodi already.

It really does make a neat and cheap media player, that is easy to setup and use.

If your address seems to appear on a public website, why not post that website address here, and let us all try it? Here is the website I mentioned. https://www.the-art-of-web.com/system/fail2ban-howto/?hilite=fail2ban+filter In the first section on "Modifying the jail.conf file" does the line " ig...

Re: Shutdown Button not Working???

If the green activity LED eventually gives ten regular flashes, then stops, the shutdown has worked OK.

However, it doesn’t actually cut the power, so the red power LED stays on until power is physically removed or switched off “at the wall”.

Re: LCD screen cutting off windows at the bottom

It's always going to be a problem when you use a GUI on a small screen - many dialogue boxes and fixed sized windows are too big. I'm guessing you're using a 3.5" diagonal touchscreen? You can always ask the Pi Foundation itself about smaller or scrollable windows - but not here - this forum is main...

If you have connected (or can connect) a physical keyboard, does holding down 'alt' then allow you to physically drag the window around with the mouse (from anywhere in the window's centre) to show the buttons you need access to at the bottom?

If you’re new to this, but not new to IT, I would suggest you ignore NOOBS and PINN and go straight to download Raspbian Buster Desktop with recommended apps., and take it from there: https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/raspbian/ SD cards are cheap, so you can always keep one for Raspbian, and get...

Re: How to turn on r.Pi after shutdown?

Try the simple solution first. Add the line dtoverlay=gpio-shutdown to the file /boot/config.txt, and put a simple push-to-make button between GPIO pins 5+6. Reboot. That's it. Confirm GPIO pin numbering/location here: https://www.bigmessowires.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Raspberry-GPIO.jpg You c...
