Re: A Raspi disclosure

Very nice "helping hands" style, this will be great for tinkering. Also the re-use of old parts make it extra special!

Re: Solid Aluminium Case

Looks great. How much did it cost to make? The material was pretty cheap (£20 aluminium bar, enough for 8 cases) although I already had that from a previous project a couple of years ago. Other than that the cost was just time. Not sure how long all the milling took overall as it was not done by me...

Re: Solid Aluminium Case

1. what would it cost to make this in titanium I really have no idea, but I'd guess the raw material cost could be into the hundreds (£) to start with! Also, from my very limited knowledge, milling titanium is quite specialist due to it's hardness, so probably additional machine costs there too. Pl...

Re: Solid Aluminium Case

Have you had any thought about putting this into production? I have a feeling that it might be rather expensive though, but I have to agree, it does look rather smart! No production plans, this was just for fun really as I had the aluminium going spare. It might not be ridiculously expensive if you...

Re: Solid Aluminium Case

It looks like you'd have straight away troubles at disconnecting the lan / connecting the HDMI. You see to be very lucky with just composite out because it fits into the port! Yep, the HDMI has mixed results depending on the particular cable, some fit some don't. The ethernet works, but only leaves...

Haha, fair enough. I really like the soft feel it gives it, a bit like like a MacBookPro (if you like that sort of thing!)

Re: Solid Aluminium Case

You had electronic milling and still there's things like creases between pieces? It looks like you'd have straight away troubles at disconnecting the lan / connecting the HDMI. You see to be very lucky with just composite out because it fits into the port! The USB seems to fit neat, but why didn't ...

Solid Aluminium Case

I had some aluminium bar lying around (like you do), 3inch x 1/2inch by about 6 feet which I thought could make a good case using two plates of it cut to length and milled out. My mate Stuart Hammond and his Dad did all the hard work drawing it up and milling it out but the result is really nice, wi...
