Re: Raspberry Pi 4 Thread - general discussion

Do you know if the I2C bug has been corrected in the BCM2711 ? (bug about the I2C clock stretching, has been there since a decade) This question also interests me. Does anyone know the answer to it? Another great product from the Raspberry Pi team. Can't wait to get my hands on one (when the 4GB on...

Re: Best Audio ADC?

Hey b-ak I hadn't seen that board before when I did my research for my project because it is new. The author of the thread says he wants to use the Wolfson chip - have you seen this board - https://github.com/skiselev/i2s_audio_phat. It uses the WM8731 and the instructions couldn't be any clearer. S...

Re: [100nf 1005 capacitors]

They seem easy to find. Remember 100 nf is the same as 0.1 uf. Digikey and mouser etc. seem to prefer to use 0.1uf.

Hope this helps,
Louis

Re: STICKY: The I2S sound thread.

I have done loads of research into what is the best board/chip for my project and finally decided on the WM8731. Ideally, I want to design my own PCB but I do not have any experience in designing audio boards and was looking for any open source WM8731 board for the Pi to change a bit for my use. I t...

Re: Audio Injector Zero Question

Although the breakout seems to show left and right input (am yet to confirm if I have interpreted this correctly for sure) the chip only accepts mono input. Edit - These pins could represent Right Channel Line Input (AC coupled) and Left Channel Line Input (AC coupled) as the datasheet of the chip s...

Re: Audio Injector Zero Question

No I have not seen the Ultra on Amazon yet and I don't think the Ultra is for sale anywhere at the moment. Looking at the last 10 or so posts on the Audio Injector forums it seems most of them had no reply or one or two had a reply from another user (not Flatmax). I asked about a feature for the Aud...

Re: Pi Portable Recorder - Project Progress

Interestingly, there seems to be a newer version of the Audio Injector Zero which breaks out stereo audio input (see http://www.audioinjector.net/rpi-zero) although I am not entirely sure on this. This option is more compact and easily available (at the moment) than the Audio Injector Ultra 2. I hav...

Audio Injector Zero Question

Just a quick question about the Audio Injector Zero. On the board I see labels for Direct In LGR. I am right this stands for Left, Right and Ground and could be wired to use to a TRS jack to allow stereo audio input? Link to see pictures of the latest version is here - http://www.audioinjector.net/r...

Speaker Wattage and Resistance Questions

Just a quick question. If a tutorial says use a 8 ohm 1 watt speaker does it matter if I use a speaker under these numbers? For example would it matter if I used a 2 ohm 0.6 watt speaker.

Thanks,
Louis P

Actually Dirk maybe you were right. I just though maybe the pins I soldered on have a dodgy connection or have been shorted. I will check when I get back.

Thanks,

Re: i2c OLED remote i/o error and i2c device not found error

How is your device wired? I saw a post somewhere where the device was detected with i2cdetect, but the same error message when the script was run. The problem was a dodgy ground connection. Dirk thank you for your help. I also saw this post and checked my ground wire but it looked fine so I didn't ...

Wow! This just got stranger. I got the same errors again all of a sudden and in between running the scripts all I had ran was the text I wanted printed! Again I entered to install i2c tools and the program started working again! Anyone have any idea why this happens and how to fix it?

Okay I literally just did nothing for five minutes ran the program again and it worked! The only thing I did was run sudo apt-get install i2c-tools but it read package lists, built dependency tree, read state information and then said that it was already the newest version with 0 upgraded, 0 newly i...

i2c OLED remote i/o error and i2c device not found error

I have been using a i2c OLED successfully recently. However, I now get a Remote I/O error when I run the Adafruit library for it and if I try luma.oled instead I get an error saying error: I2C device not found on address: 0x3C However when I run i2cdetect -y 1 the device is clearly shown to be using...

Re: Where to buy AIY Vision Kit UK?

We have all been left in the dark about this. Originally it was said to be Easter but that was almost half a year ago now. Judging by the fact more distributors are selling the Vision Kit (for example recently Adafruit), the next stage should be getting them to the UK. Wouldn't be surprised if Pimor...
