Re: Suggestions for a Next Gen RPI B

I have almost all of those request in my desktop but why would I need them in a $35.00 dollar device. By the time you add all those items you will have a system like your desktop so it defeats the purpose of the Raspberrypi and I think there are probably 100+ post of what to add to Raspi and the nex...

You might want to seek help from who you purchased the pre-installed card from otherwise you will have to rewrite the card your self.

Re: Using Pi To Display information in Office

I have not ask my friend how he is doing it but he has a couple dozen Raspi's at his company doing exactly what you are asking and using it for inter office messages and employee information boards that are served from one central raspi. I will ask him what apps he is using to achieve this. Saved hi...

It helps to let us know the distribution you intend to use as your link is for fedora, You can use a TV with composite source to attach your Raspi if need be to set it up. I used this site to setup Raspbian static ip http://www.penguintutor.com/blog/viewblog.php?blog=6306 As far as SSH I believe tha...

Re: Is A Case necessary?

Their seems to be a pervasive talk about the PI running hot and in most situations I have not found that to be true, So do not worry about running it in a case, I have one running in a carved out Plano box with no holes but for the connectors and it does not run hot.

If you are talking about the sudo su command you should be able to type exit in the console and it will be out of sudo su.

Re: LapDock with rev 2 (512MB) Pi

I replaced my Rev1.0 board on my lapdock with a rev 2.0 512Mb board and have had no problems with the switch. The 512Mb ram is recognized and the netgear WG111 Rev2 WiFi adapter is also working fine now if a could find a browser on the Raspi that worked better in the forums I would also post more of...

Re: Dedicated RPi Games Site

I think if you look around you would find RISCOS is also a working OS and even android is progressing so no Rpi is not really only Linux, Linux is the mainstream OS but not the only OS. With so many Raspberrypi boards being sold even compared to other ARM based boards I think there will be many othe...

Re: Quake 3 Arena at 60 FPS

I have looked at several of these USB displays and their access time is 30ms or worse I am not sure that Quake will look very good on these type displays and throw in that the Raspi does not give exclusive access to the USB bus to any one device. The amount of lag of the display along with all the o...

Re: Model A (or B) custom run

I would suggest buying regular boards and then having a local electronics shop remove the components you wish to remove as this may be expensive but not any where near as expensive as trying to get a custom run, the Foundation has lots of connections and I would expect that there alpha and beta runs...

It is unlikely that Intel will ever be even mildly interested in competing with a Raspi as the profit margin is way to low.

Your post is rather vague and therefore it is difficult to answer your question with any degree of accuracy. Depending on what you are trying to accomplish with the config.txt file this may or may not be the file you need to edit. The format is a text editor like notepad or wordpad. For a specific a...

Re: Few Problems with my Pie

I believe Nmap tries to reset your network connection while it is loading and that may be the cause of your loss of connection I would try a direct attachment to a monitor instead ssh, and going direct also will give you error messages that you will not see with ssh after it disconnects.

Re: USB monitor

Are you using a powered USB hub to fire up this monitor as the Raspi itself could never power that much draw of current even in a newer 2.0 board. Hopefully you are and if not that is the reason for the continuous reboots, that is what seems to be happening. The newer 2.0 board has no polyfuses on t...

Re: Sporadic SD rootfs corruption on reboots (no overclockin

When you say reboot are you using any thing like reboot -f just a reboot command may not let it write back if it needs too.
I would suggest

Code: Select all

shutdown -r now
as the command and see if that improves your results as this command calls the system to perform a shutdown then a reboot.

Re: headless pi cannot find in the network after router rebo

sounds like you need to set a static IP or on some routers you have the option to reserve an IP for a specific MAC address, If you are rebooting without one of these options your routers DHCP will possibly assign a new IP every time you reboot. Also you should not reboot from SSH session (especially...

Re: I made a Raspberry PI Laptop

I would add the yellow wire is often found in gaming devices and is usually power not data on things like Xbox controllers, I used this wire in my Xbox to make a remote switch to turn on my Xbox by rewiring the 4th port in my Xbox and rerouted it to the power switch. This also meant that the light g...

It is likely that there is endless complaints we never see anyway so I wold suspect that @Lob0426 is not far from the truth. Re: How do i perform live backup of Raspi SD card?

If you are losing your SD that often perhaps we should find out why this is happening to your cards first question I would ask is are you overclocking then I would ask are you performing a clean halt or shutdown each time to keep the corruption of your card to a minimum. The first question on overcl...
