Re: Help with Issue 71, 'Getting Started With Pygame Zero', pp52-57

Hi,

It is as you suspect the growing number of actors being processed. I didn't put any culling code in as it would have made it too complicated as a starter program - but you could re-use the actors as they disappear off the screen then the maximum number being processed would remain constant.

Re: Pong reloaded // MagPi77 //pygamezero

Hi - glad you are having fun with the pong game :) - I think I know why you are not seeing what you are expecting: When you call the winner() function whilst the scores are printed out to the console (which is updated outside the Pygame Zero draw cycle) The scores that you are drawing to the screen ...

Re: RPCEmu on RPi

Unfortunately tests of the old software have not been successful on modern RISCOS - 16bit modules and screen modes being the main problems.

Re: RPCEmu on RPi

Ok - found out who the numpty is - myself :) - lesson of the day - when configuring the build or RPCEmu for RPi do not include the --enable-dynarec option - obvious really :D

I now have ArcVenture running on Raspberry Pi! Yay! ... no seriously ... YAY!

Re: RasPi 3B freezing when not under any significant load

Hi,
Just to check - are you using an RPi power supply? I am currently typing this in the 4th tab of a chrome window - freezing completely sound like a power issue to me - or overheated CPU?

RPCEmu on RPi

Hi Guys, I'm trying to get RPCEmu running Riscos 3.1 on my RPi but having downloaded the Ubuntu source and installed the liballegro lib and tried to run the configure before make - it reports "checking for CPU... configure: error: Unsupported CPU." - Before I start chasing my tail - am I trying to c...

Re: Python program not saved on R Pi2

I'm still struggling to understand how this is working - with a corrupted card, the Pi seems to operate correctly - files can be saved and then reloaded (so I assume they are being written to the card) - but then on power off the new files are erased. Is it that the corrupted area has been ring-fenc...

Re: Python program not saved on R Pi2

I experienced this a couple of weeks ago and as a stop-gap to get the job done (a video shoot) I re-loaded the program from a usb drive after boot each time I powered up - a pain at the time but got the job done - this did get me thinking that if the OS does not complain it is quite a good system fo...

Re: RISCOS Not on NOOBS?

I have had some success tonight - by writing the SD card image from ROOL - then overwriting with the latest git firmware files and changing the setup.txt to force HDMI output - which produced an error on boot (which I wasn't seeing previously : DataAbort:Abort on data transfer at &FC00B770 (Error Nu...

Re: RISCOS Not on NOOBS?

Hi Martin, I have just had a message on the ROOL forum that there is a problem between the latest RISCOS builds and the RPi firmware so I suspect I will need to see if I can work with previous versions or wait for an update. The reason I am trying to get a RISCOS machine running on RPi is that back ...

Yep - tried that too first - no sign of boot - I have posted on their forums.

I was just wondering why RISCOS had been removed from NOOBS if it has.

RISCOS Not on NOOBS?

Hi All,

I have been trying to get a working version of RISCOS on my RPi 3 - the docs seem to indicate that NOOBS (Networked) has it as an option but I have just downloaded the latest and run it an RISCOS is not on the list - has it been removed?

Thanks,

Re: Shutdown and reboot buttons of PIXEL desktop not working

All three buttons should work (they do on mine) - what may be happening is that something may be running in the background that is not doing its shutdown properly and keeping the OS waiting - is this a plain install or do you have additional hardware/software that has been installed?

Re: Data transfer between python and html

Hi, I would need to go through the code with a Pi (which I don't have with me) - but I don't think the shell_exec route is a good one to go down as it isn't always allowed by the server depending on what you are doing so it's probably best avoided - I'm also not sure that using the json functions ar...

Re: Using a csv file to ploy a x-y scatter graph

Hi,

What programming system are you using (python, scratch, node-red, c)? and how are you loading the csv file?

If you are using something like python it will be a fairly simple case of reading through the data and outputting it.

Re: Data transfer between python and html

Hi, It looks like you are getting there - however when you redirect your CGI back to your HTML I'm not sure how your production value will get into your web page - if it's php then you will need a <?php echo($production); ?> where $production is your data - however you are not passing your productio...

Hi,

Do you mean an original Pi model B (I think they were first released in 2012 - with 256MB of mem?) - or do you mean a Pi2B or Pi3B - the current model?

Re: Pi as a home theater system

Hi, When you say not successful - do you mean that you couldn't connect to the site/videos or that they didn't play very well? I suspect playing videos through a browser is not the most ideal way to run video on a RPi. In terms of games are you looking for simple games or current high end games? Mark

Re: 2 Servo Motor Control

In my experience you won't be able to get a good PWM signal as you will get too much jitter using just outputs through the GPIO - my advice would be to use ServoBlaster : https://github.com/richardghirst/PiBits ... rvoBlaster.

Hope that helps

Re: Power cord upgrade

Do you have anything else plugged into the Pi - USB peripherals, HATs, servos or cameras? - they can draw extra amps - a 2.5Amp 5V PSU should not cause this problem on a bare Pi3B - if it is just the Pi3B, screen and keyboard/mouse then you may have a faulty PSU.
