Re: Raspberry Pi - Speech To Text

Have been experimenting getting USB audio working and speech to text, this is great, I swapped out ffmpeg for avconv (based on the deprecated warning from ffmpeg) and it works very well

Re: /dev/ttyUSB0 as a serial link

always keen to hear of the exploits of others :)

I've a PL2303 based adapter too, the RPi was fine with it, in fact I connected a PSION5 to it as a terminal, but my Weather Station was less keen and would not communicate.

Re: FTDI USB Serial Hangs

The FT232BM and FT8U232AM are both, according the FTDI web site older (discontinued) lines, so its quite possible the that the FTDI drivers in the kernel are no longer supporting them. On that basis I've ordered an FT232R based cable from http://www.tronisoft.com/cat_usbtoserial.php?gclid=CMuk8d6QxL...

Re: FTDI USB Serial Hangs

Thanks for posting, that's useful to know. I'm glad it seems I was barking up the wrong tree and the problem may be nothing more than an older chipset v's a newer one I cant see how it can be power, even without a powered hub these devices draw less than 25mA, but the problem persists with a powered...

Yes I have one working with a Psion5 as a terminal :) but for non RPi related reasons my weather station does not like the prolific device :(

FTDI USB Serial Hangs

I, like a few others, have been having various problems using USB/Serial adapters with RPi. One of them is the FTDI adapter and so far my search for an answer has been unsuccessful. The problem is the device is recognised by RPi and lists correctly from dmesg usb 1-1.2.3: new full speed USB device n...

Re: /dev/ttyUSB0 as a serial link

have same/similar issue, FTDI usb/serial adapter is recognised but as soon as I try to read the port it hangs the RPi. The adapter is recognised fine but I do not think thats using the FTDI driver in the kernel. I'm trying to find a solution but it seems to be that the FTDI kernel drivers are not AR...

Re: ttyUSB0 FTDI crash

Not much help I know, since it doesn't involve an FTDI chipset: But for the record I've no had problem interfacing a Davis Vantage (weather station) logger with a USB interface (which has an internal SiLabs serial-to-USB chipset) via ttyUSB0 to a Pi. its very helpful as you've identified a working ...

Re: ttyUSB0 FTDI crash

post 10 http://www.69b.org/prox-pi.php/rpo/phpB ... f=5&t=5829 suggests that the ftdi drivers are not ARM compatible which the driver page http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm does back up, if that is the case then this is going nowhere until we have new drivers :(

Re: USB Serial port problem

I don't think its lack of power the adapters typically draw less than 25mA but even when I try using a powered USB hub I get the same issue, RPi hangs when I try to read data with an FTDI based device. With a PL2303 it doesn't hang but the device on the other end (a weather station) doesn't work! ht...

Re: ttyUSB0 FTDI crash

I can confirm I have exactly the same issue with an FTDI based usb/serial converter, its recognised by RPi but as soon as I try to read data it hangs the RPi fatally requiring a hard reboot. Another converter based on the PL2303 works fine but the Weather Station I am trying to interface to doesn't ...

Re: PL2303 serial port.

I've been having problems with USB/Serial adapters, one works find with PC but hangs RPi, other works fine with RPi and Psion5 terminal app but not with my Weather Station. Going to try a powered USB hub in the hope it eliminates power as the problem (USB/Serial should be fine both are rated at less...

Re: Python/PyWeather collaboration??

have been trying to install wview myself this evening but without success, not quite sure what is wrong at this point but I admit I've been darting through the notes rather than reading, checking then doing. Will start clean tomorrow and see if I can spot what's wrong.
