Re: pi camera kernel module

@DougieLawson Saturday AM in Oz, had another go with the pi cam on a fresh install of slack current imnediately hereafter ran rpi-update to install kernel 3.12.22+with modules and firmware. Have progressed no further and have decided to put this on the back burner. and get back on to my weather stat...

Re: pi camera kernel module

Yes, thank you, I understand that this is all very raspbian centric and not just plain ole linux that anyone can pick up and use. However, v4l-utils, unless I am mistaken is not just for raspbian and I kind of got the notion that If I had a recent version of v4l-utils and the current kernel/modules/...

Re: pi camera kernel module

any reason you're running slackware as opposed to raspbian ? None other than after a brief go with SuSe and a slightly longer go with Mandrake I decided to give Slackware a go. That was in 2001 and I have been using it or in some instances a derivative (salix and porteus) ever since. May I add that...

Re: pi camera kernel module

Thanks for that, you raise an issue with my running slack and using rpi-update. The /boot directory in no better than an appendix when running slack on a pi. I'm expecting that raspbian mounts /dev/mmcblk0p1as /boot so rpi-update works. My pi's boot from /dev/mmcblk0p1but it has never been mounted a...

Re: pi camera kernel module

Sorry, I thought I submitted a post this AM before I went to work, obviously I/It didn't submit. I ran rpi-update again and have the modules on board now. Worked through the SUNNY connection problem and now I get the following in dmesg [ 750.251279] bcm2835_v4l2: disagrees about version of symbol mo...

Re: pi camera kernel module

Maybe I've missed something here. I ran rpi-update on Saturday and have kernel 3.12.22+. Ran modprobe bcm2835-v4l2 and it hung there, did a ctl alt c and tried it with insmod -f and was told the module wasn't present. I ran find /lib bcm2835-v4l2 and the module was not found. Edit: I've run rpi-upda...

pi camera kernel module

Hello, I on a Pi running slackware current (as of yesterday) I have just compiled and installed v4l-utils (from git yesterday) and updated to the latest kernel and firmware. From what I understood I should now be ready to access my Pi camera using v4l2 but I do not appear to have the necesary kernel...

Re: less than 5 volts at pins 2 and 4

My concern is preventing >3.3V back to the pi. As far as I can understand the ds2482 provides my wire bus access to i2c. However, if it is on the 5V rail then I'll have 5V out on SDA and SLC pins on the ds2482. If that is the case then I would have to drop that down to 3.3V before the pi.

Re: less than 5 volts at pins 2 and 4

I'm going to put a pi in a stevenson screen out in my garden. I intend to monitor temperature, humidity, (maybe later add barometric readings) and also set up a webcam to broadcast video of what the pup is up to. I've done proof of concept with temperature using 1wire/ds18b20 using 3.3V, using motio...

less than 5 volts at pins 2 and 4

I have a model B 256mb rev 0002 and a model B 512mb rev 000e which both read less than 5V at pin 2 or 4. I have 4.69V and 4.96V respectively. When I switch phone charger/ps's I have 4.88V and 4.79V respectively. Phone chargers are 5V 1Amp. I have 3.31V and 3.34V respectively off pin 1. Is less than ...

It would probably be best if you tried a search using

You are not alone with the problem. Perhaps you might also check the zarafa forum.

Re: ArmedSlack 13.37

My question is how to configure X to run full optimized on rpi! Arm and GPU share the same memory. If you want your GPU (read X) to have more grunt then change your start.elf to give the GPU more memory. If you want configure your X to run full optimization (or as best as you can get it) then try s...

Re: ArmedSlack 13.37

The xscreensaver almost doesn't move! I have never hooked up to a TV so I can't say more than that I wouldn't be suprised if I had a slow screen saver. You may, however, want to change your start.elf. For example, if you are using sorinm's image your memory split is 192 to linux and 64mb to the gpu...

Re: ArmedSlack 13.37

I'm now using sorinm's 23/05 image with 55020's 01/08 kernel, modules and hacks. It seems to me that I used to be able to run shutdown -h now and the pi would shutdown and if I ran shutdown -r now it would also shutdown, i.e. not reboot. Even though it was still connected to a PS it would not reboot...

Re: ArmedSlack 13.37

It is possible have openbox on this?
Probably but you'll have to build it first, its not included in slackware. See slackbuilds.org and also note the bit about slackbuild scripts here:http://www.daves-collective.co.uk/raspi/tuning.shtml if you go that route.

Re: strange repeating text message

I get around this by connecting HDMI after 1st boot Be carefull about connecting hdmi while pi is booting/running. I did a hurried connection of hdmi to a moniitor while the pi was booting and there was an arc between the metal housings of the male/female hdmi plugs (maybe between a pin and housing...

Re: mouse is constantly updated

Armed slack kernel version was 3.1.9_gf679f05 and I would imagine nothing would be exactly the same if it was a different distro. My reference to mice working was just that the mice were ok, both being common garden variety microsft usb mice neither of which have been problematic with linux (nor sub...
