Re: This is not an announcement Liz

The Zero, apparently released on the 28 february has some very low power properties. As IoT with low power is "in", how does a teacher deceide what to use for teaching? micro:bit, raspberry pi, arduino, others or all of them. What is the deceiding factors for this question, that is also being asked ...

Actually, and of course my brain cell is getting older, I think the tea comment was even before the final production run.
The old forum is maybe somewhere, safe and sound in the Internet celler.

This is not an announcement Liz

In the dark dark ages of pre-release Pi, everybody said, not gonna happen In the lighter times after release Pi (no number, it didn't have one then so non now), people wanted it to make tea (Liz remembers) Roll on some years and the new kid in town, micro:bit - the contender? nope - the lesser choic...

Re: ALDL 8192 (GM ODB-I)

Just a note. After moving into a new house with a lot of work, my time was limited.
Now the house is finished, my ALDI car just died...: so no input from me

I hope that to just use the rx/tx port of the Pi to comunicate IF they can be programmed to the correct rate.
Still moving house as the roof had rot and this caused a LOT of work

Re: OBD-II STN1110

One could expect a mother board for the pi with a 9 pin d connector to which one attaches a cable to the obd-ii interface in ones car. One can then connect to the car via a terminal program from the pi to send simple messages to the car using "at" commands. http://elmelectronics.com/DSheets/ELM327DS...

Re: OBD-II STN1110

One can do what one wants with the interface: now there is at least 2 "working" on an integrated circuit for the Pi. On the question of what benefit the STN (or original ELM) device is that it creates an "at" command set interface with the OBD-II. The device does all the grunt work with the OBD-II p...

RS part nr for Pi GIO connector

Errr, silly question...
Does anyone have an RS part nr for the connector for the Pi GIO, like the one used @ http://www.thebox.myzen.co.uk/Raspberry ... Board.html ?

For my project, I will probably only use a Smart Phone for display.
My first hurdle is almost over: deciding how to interface ALDL to Pi (then I have to order stuff from RS).

ALDL 8192 baud Hardware

Included is a "webshot" of reference ALDL 8192 baud Hardware used to interface to a normal Serial Port, for example on a PC. As the Pi has tx/rx it is possible to "directly" connect to the ALDL port. "Directly" but not really, need some form of protection chip between the Pi and ALDL, Opto- coupler?...
