AbiWord over xRDP

Hi, I'm trying to run my Pi headless using xrdp (as I prefer it to VNC), but I just can't get AbiWord to run over RDP. It works fine locally, but a GUI remote execution from standard Raspbian (with PIXEL) results in seemingly nothing happening. Trying to execute it in a terminal and I get: [email protected]...

Re: Turn a Raspberry into a Risc PC

Too many cooks and all that! Are all you kind and helpful people saying "yes, you can use ShareFS, to send data from the Raspberry to a Virtual Acorn and vice versa" Well, I can. SDFS (if you use an SD card as your storage) doesn't have an option to Share from a menu, but the *share command in an ob...

Re: Turn a Raspberry into a Risc PC

I would like to use a Raspberry Pi in stead of my ageing Risc PC, it works well but is very noisy and takes up a lot of room! Would it be able to communicate with my Virtual Acorn via my LAN using ShareFS, I would want to keep my special files on it, away from Windows and my Windows PC as I do now....

Re: RISCOS & RPiZero screen issues...

I think you need to disable overscan in the config.txt. Do this AT YOUR OWN RISK! I'm doing it from memory! You might completely muck up how the computer boots up, and need to reinstall the original image. My guess is you've got nothing to lose unless you've adjusted your hand-eye co-ordination to t...

Re: Help needed with screen resolution

I can concur. With the Pi-Top, attempting to boot directly to 1360x768 via either MDFs or AnyMode produces the half/half fragmented screen mentioned above. I just put AnyMode in Boot.Choices.Boot PreDesk and drop an ObeyFile called WimpMode in Boot.Choices.Boot.Desktop with *wimpmode x1360 y768 c16m...

Re: Word+ From NutPi Won't Work on RPi 2

I believe they are working on a fix for this. NutPi is tied in some way to the processors on the original Pi and a fix is needed to allow it to recognise the Pi2 as being valid. I suspect it may take a short while as each author and original vendor will need to make the necessary change before an up...

Re: RISC OS RPi - Laptop

I too would like a more professional looking Raspberry Pi laptop, but doubt we'll ever get beyond the LapDock, given the market for such a beast is very limited. And given that LapDocks, at one point, were very cheap (mine cost me less than £50 when I got it!). Without wifi, a native laptop is of re...

Re: RISC OS RPi - Laptop

It absolutely is, yes. :) I've managed to connect my laptop to a Raspberry Pi running RISC OS, and even shared the internet connection. I seem to remember I followed the instructions here: https://www.riscosopen.org/forum/forums/5/topics/1914 BUT don't make the same mistake as I made, by forgetting ...

Re: Aemulor - 26bit emulator for Raspberry Pi 'PreOrders

If you go to buyit.spellings.net you can download a demo and test it on your Pi for a month, I believe, before coughing up any money. I downloaded the demo, used it for a bit and then realised I didn't need it as much as I thought I did i.e. once, to test TableMate! When I do actually need to use it...

Re: RISC OS Wakefield 2013 Show

It seems that Aemulor is free for Cortex A8 and A9 systems (that is, the BeagleBoard and PandaBoard) but is £15+VAT for the Raspberry Pi and is locked to the Pi it is bought for. It requires a unique code to register it prior to purchase. If you've already paid for £hundreds of software, an extra £1...

No Javascript support in NetSurf
It's on it's way! http://ci.netsurf-browser.org/builds/riscos/ Look towards the bottom, where they are labelled Netsurf-GCC-json. They have experimental Javascript support enabled.

Re: Power switch board

CJE Micros have an on-off switch/reset switch in development for the Pi. It's not on their website yet, but I believe Eben posted a picture of it on Twitter after it was demoed at the London RISC OS show last month.

Re: RISC OS released on Raspberry Pi

Knowing about the middle mouse button seems to be a fundamental requirement Bob, The middle button (or Menu, as we call it!) is the second most used mouse button in RISC OS. Mainly because, as it's name suggests, it provides ALL menu options (the first (left mouse button) is called Select, and the ...

Re: RISC OS released on Raspberry Pi

I downloaded it out of curiosity, and was very impressed by the speed that it loads. Unfortunately, this was the first time I've ever seen RISC OS, and didn't really know how to proceed. I managed to get a connected, re-configured range-extender to get me on the network (no WiFi support, it seems) ...

Re: RISC OS on Raspberry Pi

Hi guys, Is it possible to run old Acorn Archimedes games/demos on the Raspberry Pi by now? I know there's ArcEm, an Acorn Archimedes emulator wich is SLOW and has a lot of tearing in games since it doesn't respect vsync at all, making smooth-scrollin games/demos very ugly compared to the real syst...

Re: RISC OS on Raspberry Pi

I'd say it feels faster than the Iyonix. Not as fast as a BeagleBoard or a PandaBoard. Has the USB bottlenecks to contend with, but still feels faster with the latest development ROMs.

Actual scientific tests may prove me wrong, but I'm going on feelings.

YMMV.
