Hi, I tried the above and I the screen now no longer shoots off to the left of the display (I also tried adaptor with laptop to rule out problems with that and experienced no problems at all), these are the current settings that appear to work: config_hdmi_boost=7 hdmi_drive=2 hdmi_group=2 overscan_...

Strangely I turned pi on and screen seems centred although it's not taking up whole display , there is a 1 inch border around the screen. My monitor is a dell e176fp

Screen in Debian on far left of display

I am using Debian and Rpi seems to work fine, until I reboot and the display is shown to the left of the screen (rather than being central). I have reformatted SD card and reinstalled Debian and that seems to correct issue, but again on rebooting it will revert back and display to the left. Any idea...

Thanks for the advice.

Would you know of any similar powered device that converts HDMI to VGA (I haven't come across any myself), or is the composite to VGA option the best way foward?

I will look into prices of second hand monitors, good thinking.
