Re: STICKY: Installing FreeBSD

Maybe silly question but is FreeBSD port working stable on RPi? It seems Pi is mainly used with Raspbian but if FreeBSD works without problems, I think it can be real alternative. I guess most people don't know about it or use the OS which is used by others.

Re: Raspbian security updates

My idea is to use RPi with SSD as backup server for email (Postfix), web (Apache or Nginx) and DNS server. The main server will be normal x64 PC with Debian.

Raspbian security updates

Hi. I know Raspbian is cloned from Debian which is known as very stable and secure. I guess that improvements in Debian since the first release of Raspbian are not transferred (to Raspbian). The question is whether Raspbian has regular security updates and can it be used for mail/DNS/web server with...

Good metal case for Pi & SSD

Is there metal case with good quality for Pi3 and free space for SSD (plus corresponding USB-SATA board)? On eBay I found only this (in various offers and prices): https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Raspberry-Pi-X820-V3-0-Schwarz-Gehause-Case-Cooling-Lufter-Fan-fur-X820-SSD-HDD/302881100540 On picture it lo...

But the 7" display is still being sold.
Because this is the official Pi display. There are no 7" and 10" models. The choice is between official 7" or 3rd party 10" or more.

I am not sure that 2GB/4GB microSD are not available on market. They can be missing in the local store selling phones and TVs.

I wonder why these question come when the development is nearly to the end. Do you have Plan B, if the answers are negative?

Re: Antivirus for Raspberry Pi on a corporate network

I think it is only 1. because of this: "...the IT department that wants antivirus on everything that is connected to a their network."

For that reason any AV will do the job. I don't know what they will do if network printer is installed.

I agree for exFAT but usually the internal HDD is not unplugged before power off.

Is there any reason to think the RPi3B+ might be more restricted in this respect?
64GB is SDXC, not SDHC. 32GB is the limit for SDHC.

I hope Pi 3B+ supports 64GB SD cards. Here is a new promising model:

PS: WD has the same with 32GB as well.

Re: Cheap SD Cards from eBay are Fake

One thing is 4/8GB SD card from No-Name brand or 512MB old card - another thing is pseudo 128 GB fake card. It is fraud but in fact there is no "GB" text on card and eBay looks only for false description not misleading text. For example, there are cables with VGA and HDMI connectors on both ends tha...

If USB boot OTP bit is enabled, is it still possible to boot from SD card? Also, if the USB is not bootable (no active partition) - will RPi continue booting from SD card?

My 3B+ does not start with 4 long + 4 short blinks of green LED. The red LED is off in this time. Can this happen because of low power? I used the old adapter of RPi 1B+ which is 1A.

http://myserver.net/appache/ gets forwarded to Apache
http://myserver.net/myService/... gets forwarded to whatever other server
Why not subdomains? www1.myserver.net, www2.myserver.net, etc.
