Re: StepMania (with OpenGL)?

Great Job!

You and I had the same idea. I just got it running on my system and I'm getting about 30FPS. No sound yet so I'm going to recompile. Thanks for the instructions, I was editing CMakeCache.txt directly

PiPlay running on Pi2

Hey All, Just got my Pi2 earlier today. Been testing my distro PiPlay on it and checking that everything works. I'm having some more people test it out, but its looking solid and I should be releasing the image this week. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IBubgnwDqdY If you are brave and don't mind me...

I'll look into this. You can also post a message on the pimame forums as well. Make sure the files dgen is opening aren't zipped.

Raspberry Pi Gaming book available now!

Hey All, So this is something I've been working on for almost a year now. My book, "Raspberry Pi Gaming" is now available for purchase from Packt Publishing and Amazon. The book explains how to use the Pi Store, installing PiMAME and RetroPie, numerous emulators, games, and some programming with Min...

Re: pimame trouble

That error is usually because of an unstable overclock or less frequently, a bad sd card. PiMAME is built on top of Raspbian, so it should work just fine. You might also want to check your power supply, and make sure that you shutdown properly rather than just remove power. You can shut down from th...

Re: raspbian apt PCSX problems

You should use pcsx_reARMed, which was made for ARM processors and uses OpenGL ES instead of OpenGL.

You can get it for free from the Raspberry Pi store: http://store.raspberrypi.com/projects/pcsx_rearmed

Re: PiMame difficulties

Hi, I'm Shea Silverman, the maintainer and creator of PiMAME. I'm sorry for the difficulties you had with PiMAME. The older versions (pre 0.6) only needed 2GB sd cards. 0.7 and up requires a 4GB SD Card. For advancemame, you only need to put the roms in the roms/ directory, mame4all roms goes in rom...

Re: Looking for 2.8" TFT display

You can also search Amazon for the little monitors. I've used a 2.5", 3" and 3.5" on the Pi. The 2.5" can actually be powered straight from the Pi but the 3" and up need at least 6v. edit: something like this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0045IIZKU/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390...

PiMAME installer available

Hey All, I have finished the first version of the PiMAME installer. This will allow you to install PiMAME, the ftp server, webserver, and other additions with just one script. You can also completely uninstall it and update PiMAME with one command, so no more downloading new image files. The script ...

This is one of my favorite games of the 90's. Also one of the first games I played multiplayer over a serial cable, and later on a coax BNC Novell network. Memories :D The Pi is such a great platform for retro gaming, the community just keeps on giving. I just posted a tutorial on how to build Desc...

So, this is what I did with PIP, which runs at bootup. the full installer code is here: https://github.com/ssilverm/PiMAME/blob/master/pimame_files/pipinstall.py though it is not very clear to read. basically, you make a file that looks like this: #!/bin/bash ### BEGIN INIT INFO # Provides: name # R...

PiMAME.org site launched

Hey All,

Sorry for the long break from the forums, I was busy getting married and enjoying my honeymoon (woooo!)

Just wanted to say I launched http://PiMAME.org so that theres a central place for the distro rather than just on my blog.

Hope you all enjoy!

edit /etc/rc.local by typing in sudo nano /etc/rc.local
and include this line before “exit 0″:

for tty in /dev/tty?; do /usr/bin/setleds -D +num < "$tty"; done

then press ctrl-x then y

That will get you numlock on bootup
