RPi breaks SD-Cards

Hello, the makers of the RPi should use better SD-Card slots. The cheap slot ruins SD-Cards on the fly and breaks them. Even a one Euro SD-Card reader has a better slot. I put a metal plate from a 3,5"-Floppy on top of the slot and glued it with super glue. SD-CARD.JPG Best Regards P.S.: The foundat...

Re: USB Ethernet adapters

Hello, i tried the "Wintech USB 2.0 LanCard Model: LAU-15 (CK0049C) successful. They are working with the mcs7830 driver. I dont know if the (unmodified) RPi can provide enough power. On my RPi i shortened both USB-fuses and use an unfused separate power supply/input (5V 1,5A). Good luck, and Best R...

Re: Trying to read the system timer

Yes, gettimeofday will give a portable solution. But its heavy: 2012-06-21 13:12:47.033513 gettimeofday() took approx: 27 us The direct access to the system timer is much faster. #define BCM2708_PERI_BASE 0x20000000 #define SYST_BASE (BCM2708_PERI_BASE + 0x3000) /* SYST controller */ #define SYST_CS...

Re: Add netfilter and iptables to the kernel

@blurp You need to update your /opt/vc files. Try hexxeh's rpi-update tool. @dom Thanks for the hint. I prefer not use mysterious updaters. I put the directory tree above /opt/vc from the firmware package myself. After a depmod -a and a ldconfig seems all fine now.n It would be a good idea to make ...

Re: Custom kernels and the binary blob.

Can You repeat this in verbose mode?

I recompiled my kernel (on debian) to get this:

[E] Failed to initialize VCHI (ret=-1)
