Re: Internet via ethernet into Mac

Thanks for that. I've connected my Mac upto my Pi, and set up the Mac like you've suggested and that's fine. Now, my Pi still cannot find internet, so I'm thinking I need to do something in the Terminal? Sorry for the questions...

Same scenario here mate, just different operating systems. Keep an eye out here - hopefully we'll be preached by the knowledgable ones soon.

Internet via ethernet into Mac

Evening everyone, Received my pi today, and loving it! Not done much yet - only really booted up the LXDE environment so far, but will be doing much more when I learn more about it. One thing I'm wanting to do, however, is connect it to the internet. I've got an ethernet lead, and wanting to connect...

Re: Blank screen on boot up

Good thinking bat man! And, after a quick change of the code back to -40, the screen is working fully.

Thanks very much mate - appreciate the speedy response :D

Blank screen on boot up (solved)

Hey chaps, Received my Pi today in the post, and currently setting it up to my requirements. I've been playing around in the '/boot/config.txt' area in order to get the picture to fit my screen. I made a few changes, and they worked fine, but made another to make it fit perfectly, and it's just vani...

Re: How to install XBMC on LXDE

You can tell I know nothing about Linux :P Thanks very much :) I'm following those steps and have got to the point where I need to insert my USB stick. However, because I'm running Linux through VirtualBox, I don't think Linux can detect my memory stick and so I cannot go any further. Any suggestions?

How to install XBMC on LXDE

Hey chaps, I'm looking into using my Pi as a Media Centre, and have found that XBMC is best suited for the device. I'm currently using LXDE OS and wondering whether anyone can help me into how to get it installed? I've got Linux installed on my PC and doing all my tests on this first before I go mad...

Re: Pre-installed SD card query

I was asked on the 31st May to order it through RS Components, and with my code, I did. However, the description for the SD card says '4GB SD Card with Raspberry Pi OS installed' which means nothing! I'm currently in the process of, through VirtualBox, installing Linux Debian so I can get used to wh...

Thank's for that. What version of Debian does it come with? I quite like the look of LXDE.

Pre-installed SD card query

Hey everyone, I've ordered my Raspberry Pi through RS Components recently along with a pre-installed SD card with the necessary OS for the Pi. I'm wondering if anyone knows what this pre-installed OS is? My order form doesn't specify which one it is, and just outlines that it's designed for the Pi. ...

Pre-installed SD card query

Hello everyone, Last week I ordered my Raspberry Pi via the RS Components store, along with a pre-loaded SD card which has the Raspberry Pi OS installed. I'm, however, starting to wonder what the OS that is pre-installed actually is. I've never used Linux, and have always been a Windows man from the...
