Re: Idea for a personal project

Cheers man thanks! Don't think I'll pick up the latest PI, my current one just gathered dust so I don't want to buy another knowing I'll barely use it. I'll give it a lash on my current setup and sure if it tanks it tanks, atleast I'm putting it to use. Python sounds like a good shout, so at a minim...

Idea for a personal project

Hi all, I was an early adopter of the Raspberry PI a few years back, and have to say it has spent most of its time gathering dust. I bought it to use as a download manager, and it seemed incapable of doing that. Then I had it running as a XBMC machine plugged into my TV and it was terrible at that. ...

Re: HowTo - Mumble server

@freemanbubu That looks interesting. But does it hookup to an server you host, or to one third party. You see I want to use something like you've linked, but have it be active for a mumble server hosted by a third party, and I don't have any access to the server box its hosted on. The Pi comes in as...

Re: Sickbeard and Sabnzbd usage, one big issue

O well it seems that SAB started working. http://pastebin.com/LQpzCgVF Wheezy you say, I wouldnt mind setting it up again, I guess the issue is that I use my Pi as an IRC bouncer, and have a pretty highly customised irssi config, wonder if I can back it up and load it back onto the new formatted car...

Sickbeard and Sabnzbd usage, one big issue

I have my RaspberryPi setup not with torrents, but with NZBs . I have Sickbeard running perfectly and it snatches a new episode of my TV show from the various NZB index sites, and then forwards it to SabNZBD to download (also working eprfectly). The problems arise after a short period of downloading...

Re: Raspi is also good for boring server work

Figured this might be a good start rather then a new thread. I am utilising my Rpi for a few cool things. But one thing I want it to be is a private portal as such for me. A very simple webpage ( expanding to a small site) for strictly private use. Contained on the page I just want simple links and ...

Re: HowTo - Mumble server

Was just about to make a new thread about this, but probably better to ask here. I have a Mumble server with 10,000 slots. It was a private server but as part of a new community driven project it will be available for pretty much anyone to use. I was typically admin/moderating the server through the...

Re: Unable to setup Dynamic DNS to access Pi

Ran some tests from work.

All is fine and well, can access my Pi remotely. :)

Have to say the only reason for such functionality is so that I can use irssi, but its still cool to be able to do it.

Re: IRC eggdrop bot on PI??

Interesting read I'm my PI as a 24/7 IRC bouncer. An irc bot would be excellent to have in my channels. Unfortunately I'm very new to linux and there doesn't appear to be many noob friendly guides to getting bots up and running. Also considering it has been years since I used a bot, I've no idea whi...

Re: Unable to setup Dynamic DNS to access Pi

Nah my ISP is fine, its pretty non-restrictive. As I said the set-up I'm going for with my Pi's I've had for some time just on big bulky laptops. I guess while we are on the topic, is there anything obscure to be done on the Pi end for the ports? I know I can go into my router and just add its IP ad...

Re: Pi write/download speeds, poor to SD card?

Thanks, That atleast confirms my assumption that it was read/write speeds. I've a 320GB USB HD that I will mount later this evening and test on that. It is not a disaster, I've scheduled my downloads during the nightime so it can have that extra bit of time to download. But at the rate the SD card w...

Re: Unable to setup Dynamic DNS to access Pi

Yes this will be fine. I have done this similar for a number of laptops. I'm essentially using Pi's to replace laptops I use for automation in the house. I was just struggling with actually getting the DynamicDNS setup. I'll be having another crack at this again tonight. Will also need to get it run...

Pi write/download speeds, poor to SD card?

Hi all, I'm using my Pi primarily as a download manager. I used to have a laptop running Sickbeard Sabnzbd Couchpotato Headphones And it was a brilliant setup, but with a 17inch laptop always on it was noisy, power hungry and cumbersome. It is the main reason I decided to get the Pi. After a very ea...

Unable to setup Dynamic DNS to access Pi

Hi all, Figured this is the best place to post. I am trying to setup my Pi so that I can access it from outside of my home network. I currently have it setup in a shelf in the spare room and I control it using SSH. The main purpose of my Pi is a download manager and IRC bouncer. So I'd like to be ab...
