Re: Overpromised and Underdelivered?

The keyboard is from DELL, model SK-1825, which has a built-in hub, to which the mouse is connected. That's going to be the problem. Keyboards with built in hubs rarely work. They are likely to exceed the 100mA limit for Pi's USB ports. Can you try with a hub-less keyboard? dom, you did read the re...

Re: Overpromised and Underdelivered?

@ullix - what memory split are you using... I suspect the more common 224/32? The GPU needs more than 32MB for video decoding. Change your start.elf to one which allocates less memory to the arm, and more to the GPU. Thanks, gregeric, that did the trick!!! Under Debian Wheezy call 'sudo raspi-confi...

Re: Overpromised and Underdelivered?

Your keyboard issue sounds like you are not getting enough power - search the for 'power & repeating keys'. I remember reading about it but I can't remember where, sorry. It's probably worth checking your peripherals to see if they appear in the list of supported & unsupported devices. http://elinu...

Re: Overpromised and Underdelivered?

Thanks for pointing out that a special player is needed to take advantage of the GPU. And no, despite very closely following the blogs, I didn't know this. Perhaps naively, I saw this statement (my bold) http://www.raspberrypi.org/archives/592 : Codecs Two licensed codecs will be provided at launch ...

Overpromised and Underdelivered?

Yesterday I got my Raspberry Pi (model B) from RS together with a 4GB SDHC(speed 6) card with installed OS (Debian squeeze) and began to set it up with great excitement. The excitement waned quickly, and gave room for deep disappointment - video playback at best was a fast slideshow, and at worst di...

Re: Raspi as external video card?

<t>As was said before, VNC would work for basically static video - like showing the desktop - but surely not for transmitting video to a HTPC. I am not using VLC, but use mythtv instead. If a mythtv frontend would work on the raspi, then my needs would be fulfilled. However, reading through the myth...

Re: Raspi as external video card?

<t>Can the Raspi perhaps be used as an external video card to a regular desktop computer? Additional monitors could be connected e.g. to laptops and each monitor would need one Raspi. There are USB video cards, which provide such a function.<br/> <br/> Even better than a USB connected monitor would ...
