Broken Samba?

Samba stopped working so I tried to restart it and saw that it was automagically uninstalled. Now when I try to reinstall: sudo apt-get install samba Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you ...

ccedric wrote:juste do a firmware update, and it will work.
while this will "fix" it, that isn't the solution to the problem. raspbian needs to pull the latest package and revert to the previous version until they decide to push the newest firmware.

Re: New OMXPlayer is borked

this still doesn't fix the issue. if someone downloaded the raspbian image and updated, omxplayer would not work.

the omxplayer should be reverted to the previous version or the firmware should be updated. the package is broken until one of those happens.

New OMXPlayer is borked

whenever I run it I get: /usr/bin/omxplayer.bin: symbol lookup error: /usr/bin/omxplayer.bin: undefined symbol: vc_tv_get_display_state

I had no issues with the last version.

Re: Something must be loose...

yeah it's always been like this. i just got this from a RMA of a RMA. First one died after a few months, same day the Turbo update happened, second one never booted at all, this one is flakey. I feel bad going back to element14 again! I bought another SD card just in case that's the problem. I'll wa...

Something must be loose...

I can't even breath on my raspberry pi as the screen will go black and if i'm connected via ssh it goes too (if someone walks pretty hard next to my desk it happens as well). Raspberry pi boots up just fine and sometimes will be on for hours at a time with no issues. Sometimes 30 seconds into it it ...

Re: Pi won't boot after a day on "Turbo Mode"

I tried both the old raspbian and the new so i don't think I have to disable turbo mode. The OK light only lasts a few seconds before it fades out to dark. I tried 2 PSUs, the one I was running it off and my girlfriend's iphone 4s and both have the fade out light. If F3 is blown, I guess I'm screwed...

Pi won't boot after a day on "Turbo Mode"

I enabled turbo mode yesterday and played with my pi for the night. Went to bed, woke up, tried to log in from work, couldn't. Thought that was odd. Came home and now I can't get the darn thing to boot. I reflashed the sd card with the old and new raspbian. I tried 2 different sd cards. No bueno. Th...

Re: RetroArch Emulator Frontend

Do you want audio from the HDMI port? Then just use the HDMI plug. If you want to get a USB sound card then you plug that into the USB and then plug whatever you want to receive the audio into that card. The USB sound card does not take the audio onto the USB card and then push it back over the HDMI...

Re: Android / Debian Pros & Cons

Sort of apples and oranges. ICS is running a full GUI environment. If you fire up X and LXDE you won't be using 10-20 megs any more. They are both useful for two different reason. If you want to browse the web and do things that you could do on a mobile phone, Android will probably be your best opti...

Re: Instructions for building XBMC for Raspbian

first of all, thanks for the great efforts to get XBMC running. I have my pi up and running 24/7 and dont want to run XBMC all the time. Therefore I am looking for an easy and "wife compliant" way to start XBMC. It would be ideal to use rpi-cecd for it and to map an unused key to execute a custom c...

Re: Raspbian - SD card space

I had to resize manually. I tried using the raspi-config twice and it froze up for me. Using good old fdisk, reboot, and resize worked for me though.

It does take some time though (at least on a class 6 16gb card). Best part of doing it manually is you can run df and see how far along it is.

If you want to program in Java why on earth are you worrying about performance? That is not something Java is famed for. Supposedly it is "write once, run anywhere" but that does not work out much either. By Java I'm assuming you mean the JRE in your comment. The JRE is pretty quick now-a-days, you...

do you have an IR receiver that works with Linux?

It wouldn't be raspberry pi specific, find an IR sensor that works with linux and then use the apple remote with it.
