You may also disable the root user.

Also using a non-sudo user is a good idea. But you have another user for administrative purposes

Re: Applications not yet available for Raspbian Buster

Just installed buster through all the prompts and restarted. I then ran the update/upgrade and had 33 upgrades to apply. This not uncommon with a new release. Not all vendors pushed to early release Buster like the RPF did so we now have to wait while other vendors or developers upgrade their produc...

Re: I don't understand the point of still using USB 2.0

Compatible might not mean everything is compatible. USB 3.0 may be backward compatible with the USB 2.0 standard, but there could easily be a device that runs on a USB 2.0 port that is not compatible with the USB 2.0 standard. Since the Pi is a learning device and there are many users building custo...

Re: Help; 7 Inch Touch screen connection not working

One needs to be very careful when connecting power to IC and devices full of ICs. Any providing of a supply voltage greater then the recommended voltage can easily damage the components of the device. It look like you are trying to power the display with the 3vdc from the GPIO. If you had powered th...

Re: Is the new Raspberry Pi 4 vulnerable to Meltdown and Spectre attacks?

Most viruses are machine dependent and this virus as many rely on the Intel and AMD family of chips. Since the Pi uses the ARM processor, the machine code is not compatible with Intel and AMD systems.

I just downloaded both of them without any errors.

Re: Can I use Pi-Top OS without Pi-top Hardware

Pi-Top Polaris runs Raspbian and is just a series of packages to replace the GUI desktop to support Pi-top products. Just search for "Pi-Top" in the raspbian depositories. I have even swaped SD cards between the Pi-Top laptop and a Raspberry Pi 3 B+ with no issues on both systems. The uname -a comma...

Re: Persistent RAM in raspberry pi 2B

You will need to change or add the gpu-mem option value in the config.txt file on the SD card.

Memory options in config.txt

The above link shows how to use the gpu_mem_xxxx options so the memory will be automatically set based on the gpu memory available for the various models of the Pi.

Re: how heavy is raspbian ?

The installation is only the start of the amount of secondary storage occupied by the OS. Each update to the OS or installed applications consumes more SD card memory. The memory load on the system memory depends upon what services you are running. The full updated system can easily fit on an 8 giga...

Have you searched the repositories for such a keyboard?

I use synaptic for this as it provides a more readable display than aptitude does.

Will you be using a touch sensitive screen?
