phone screen with Pi

Hello,

I have an old motorola g3 with broken internal memory.
Is it in any way feasable to take it to bits and use the touchscreen with a pi, or would it be a complete waste of time?
Answers on a postcard...

thanks

Re: GPIO State on shutdown

how long a time delay am I likely to need? I'm now thinking a 555 monostable triggered by the GPIO pins going low, but if its only a couple of seconds I may get away with a simple resistor capacitor monostable running a transistor or mosfet

GPIO State on shutdown

Hello, I'm running a pi 3 from a battery on a robot tank. Thinking about a circuit to disconnnect the battery after the pi shuts down. Would I be right to assume that the GPIO pins are set to Low after shutdown? At what point in shutdown would they go Low? (ie would the shutdown be complete before t...

setting resolution using VNC connection

Hello,

Is there any way to set the resolution on the Pi to match the resolution of the screen a VNC connection is running on?

And obviously to change it if connection comes from something different like a phone?

thanks

just found that myself. bloody useful, if a pain in the backside that I'll have to use different pins for my motor driver.

pan tilt hat GPIOs

Hello,

I have a pan tilt hat like this one: https://thepihut.com/products/pan-tilt-hat

does anyone know which GPIO pins it uses specifically, so that I can solder some header pins onto the unused contacts.

thanks

bash script with cronjob works.
running the battery down is fine, it has protection built in.

Battery Uptime

Hello,

I'm testing a battery with a pi 3 - intention is to run it flat and see how long it will power the pi for.

Is there an easy way to see uptime on the pi AFTER the battery dies and I plug it into the mains again?

running pi 3 off L298N 5v regulator

Hello, I have an L298N motor driver board, which also has a 5v regulator built in.

Will a 5v reg on one of these boards give enough current to run a Pi 3?

thanks

so with this one: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/6-24V-12V-24V-to-5V-3A-Car-USB-Charger-Module-DC-Buck-step-down-Converter-L1Z2/123809634140?epid=2223332155&hash=item1cd3a1175c:g:TrgAAOSwUGxda7R5 I would simply solder on some wires at the back end, chuck anything from 6V to 24V through it, and get 5v 3A...

Re: Which is better for power?

with the buck converters, am I right in thinking they dont need any surrounding circuitry to be built?
simply chuck voltage in one end and get 5v out the other end?

i actually have a sealed lead acid batt sat around, 6v. might have a play about with that.

Re: Which is better for power?

hmmm.

Im building a tank which will run off 7.2v but could run off 9v... perhaps a LM7805 would be good enough with an old heatsink I have kicking about to provide 5V for the pi (since I have some in the cupboard).
If that kicks out too much toastyness, I'll look at buying something in.

Which is better for power?

To power a Pi 3: Would it be better to use 4 x 1.2v rechargable batteries to give a total of 4.8v or 5 x 1.2 rechargables to give 6v, and a voltage regulator to take it down to 5v? Also, can anyone suggest a suitable charging protection circuit to allow the batteries to recharge when a standard powe...

Will a raspberry pi and 4 AA batteries together be enough to light the motor controller board up?
You've already tried with 4 AA batteries. I would use at least 8 AA's, but preferably a li-po battery from an rc car (12v again).
Or the board could be fried.

Re: Fan failure?

fans are normally controlled, so not running all the time. running a fan constantly for 2 weeks probably would screw the bearings. Connect to 5 v, then use an opto-isolator board to turn it on and off via gpio only when it gets hot enough
