Re: Loading Pycharm

Pycharm 4.0.4 community edition runs acceptably on the RPI2. I'm running it using remote X window to my Windows machine, I suspect it would be even better ran locally.

Re: moving from RPI1 to RPI2

Idiot question. Do you have to download those images, or is a apt-get dist-upgrade enough to update your system to be RPI2 ready (and take full advantage of it).

Who uses Skype in 2014? Google Hangouts is a superior service in every way imaginable, and available on more devices.

Re: Samsung_ML-1865

Thanks, using this got my CLP-360 colour laser working on my Pi. I didn't have any luck with hard float ARM, had to use an old version of debian that's using soft float. I used the script modifications as mentioned, but it also needed armel adding. elif [ "$ARCH" = "arm" -o "$ARCH" = "armv6l" -o "$A...

A basic debian system (i.e. a debootstrapped cli system) will use a mere 10-20mb of memory when idle.
Errm Android has a UI.... Not really comparing like for like. It's like comparing the weight of a car without a body to a proper car....

Re: Social jukebox

Well after a bit of digging, I am making some progress. I opted for MPD in the end, which lives in the rasbeian repo, and seems to be very configurable. However so far, it's seems rather rubbish with AAC files, when they were called M4A, the internal FFMPEG decoder couldn't read them (despite the no...

Hooking up to e-ink display?

Want to design a raspberypi based paper-like desk/wall calendar that syncs with Google Calendar (and the utterly awesome Google+ Events). Wondered if anyone has managed to hook up the RPI to an e-ink display, as it doesn't need power to display, the PI could wake up at predefined intervals, sync, re...

Social jukebox

Working on using RaspberyPi to be a social "party" jukebox. You stick a USB drive with all your music on it, and your friends can choose the music to play from mobile phone app. I have seen several projects around this. It sounds alot like Google's Nexus Q http://www.google.com/nexus/#/q/features an...

Re: Fixing SD card problems

I used to have problems with SDCard (took about 10+ minutes to boot the pi, but then usually stable once booted). However things have improved greatly with the recent update. It' s now working great with my class 6 Transcend 4GB card. root@raspbian:/opt/vc/bin# ./vcgencmd version Jun 17 2012 13:30:1...

Re: How to find out the firmmware version?

OK, thanks, that's the same version I have. The card is a Transcend class 6 4GB card. It does boot eventually, but takes ages. And the OS locked up earler during a apt-get update, so it's not all happy...

Is there a solution being worked on that doesn't involve "using a different card"?

How to find out the firmmware version?

Have got what seems to be the very common SDCard errors: mmc0: problem reading SD Status register. mmc0: error -110 whilst initialising SD card when booting up. I am using raspbian and use the rpi-update, but I can't work out how to find out the actual firmware version I have... The Pi is headless, ...
