My second Pi is from Farnell, ordered on 2/7 and had email today 26/7 to say it's shipped.

Re: Got get_iplayer downloading from BBC iPlayer

Can report that my install is now working well after using the edited instructions for Raspbian.

Just downloaded an HD 90 min programme. Worked flawlessly from start to finish.

Cheers guys.

Re: Got get_iplayer downloading from BBC iPlayer

OK, I finally got ffmpeg installed properly! Now getting exactly the same problem as drgeoff, finishes after the download and fails to convert the .flv. Download complete INFO: Command exit code 2 (raw code = 4) WARNING: flv conversion failed - retaining flv file INFO: Recorded /mnt/maxtor/Doctor_Wh...

Re: Got get_iplayer downloading from BBC iPlayer

I'm getting similar as drgeoff, except mine just stops after the successful download of a program .flv file. I think it's something to do with a bad install of ffmpeg as sudo apt-get install ffmpeg reported the following towards the end of the install Unpacking libavdevice54:armhf (from .../libavdev...

Re: Automatic setup for RTL8188CUS based wifi adapters

Now i put image disk on a 8 Gb SD with win32diskimager but I don't have any boot directory to put files into. Should I put install script plus drivers files after installation? By the way Windows 7 recognize my SD as a removable Disk of 55 Mb. Hi mikfaina - the 55Mb disk that Windows 7 sees, will b...

Re: Got get_iplayer downloading from BBC iPlayer

Anyone tried this on the new Raspbian release?

I might have a go later if I get the time. I guess I just follow the Wheezy instructions and see if anything is missing from the new repo?

Re: Automatic setup for RTL8188CUS based wifi adapters

More out of curiosity than anything else, I've just used the install-rtl8188cus-latest.sh script on the latest "Raspberry Pi Foundation Raspbian" image now being distributed on the Raspbian forum and it worked first time with no errors. Linux raspberrypi 3.1.9+ #168 PREEMPT Sat Jul 14 18:56:31 BST 2...

Re: Wireless Keyboard issues

Well I have gone out and bought a wired keyboard which now works fine, if anyone else is having problems with a wireless Microsoft Mouse 1000 and a wireless keyboard 800 it may be compatability issues. This combination is a definite problem. I've tried it and the keyboard stutters and/or repeats. I...

Re: Automatic setup for RTL8188CUS based wifi adapters

I followed the above instructions and it almost works for me, except my subnet mask on the home network is 255.255.254.0. When the Pi sends out a DHCP request, it's getting no response. Does anyone know which file I need to amend? I had the DHCP behaviour when I used the adapter plugged directly in...

Re: Got get_iplayer downloading from BBC iPlayer

Big thanks to alexeames, I followed the instructions to the letter, mounted a big USB disk and set about downloading. The instructions for Debian were flawless and with a fast broadband connection it's really painless to download and convert to h-264 for future viewing. Next project will be to set t...

Re: DDoS attack on Raspbmc -- Website down and servers down.

Very sad to see this.

Sam has done a brilliant job in the midst of exams. I've used RC3 for a couple of days and it's getting very close to primetime.

RaspBMC is an example of talent being used positively and shared selflessly.
Using DDoS is a little talent being selfishly wasted.

Re: Abiword installation issues (resolved)

Thanks JollyRoger, same mistake here and it seems the incorrect advice to use abiword-common rather than just Abiword has appeared in a few places.

Very happy to have a nice small footprint wordprocessor.

sudo apt-get install abiword worked for me too.

Abiword installation issues (resolved)

I'm using Debian6 19.04 and have happily set up Chromium and Gimp through the usual sudo apt-get install xxxxx commands. I'm now trying to install Abiword but despite it reporting success downloading and installing I cannot find it integrated into the LXDE unlike Chromium and Gimp. (Gimp was install...

Re: Automatic setup for RTL8188CUS based wifi adapters

Just to report that I got a generic unbranded wifi dongle working well on a powered hub. Not enough juice to run it on the Pi though but that could be my Blackberry PSU. I picked it up from eBay and it has the RTL8188CUS chipset and comes with a Realtek CD. Getting 'n' speeds straight away through m...
