if someone is so kind to tell me how to compile the patched omxplayer, i would do it every month when a new raspbmc is out and upload to my ftp to share. but i dont know how to do it.

i dont see how it is better, but i think it is easier to implement, but it is a step back in a way.

And the other thing is that this new solution uses cpu even im not using raspbmc for video at all, it is always running and calculating screenshots... 24/7 (even if i turn on black screensaver to turn off the leds...)

Did I read this can be overcome by using different configs? Not ideal I know, but the advantage of boblight-dispmanx if I understand correctly is that it works in all areas of XMBC, not just video playback? Advantage? boblight-dispmanx, well this one is not as good as they think it is, if you have different aspectratio (black bars) your leds on that side of the screen, wont light up. boblight-dispmanx, well this one is not as good as they think it is, if you have different aspectratio (black bars) your leds on that side of the screen, wont light up.

Is it possible to turn off the leds when the xbmc gui is active, and use the leds only when a movie is one with this new boblight-dispmanx solution? I like this way at is it now with omxplayer patch cuz My pi is always on since last september, and xbmc is always active. I dont want to see blue ligt...

Fortunately my tv does not produce any heat at all, velcro is in place since ive applied it on the edges of the back of the tv

nice, but mine is very simple and doesnt need any installation since it uses bash 
(but it only works with gmail at the moment)

Could you explain how it works? How does it hook into the playing video to get the colours? Uses vc_dispmanx_snapshot. It grabs everything onscreen (video + UI) and downsamples it. Are you saying that the txt file gets reset to default values? I've never experienced that issue. Are u sure that's related to boblightd tho...? Boboptions.txt are options for OMXplayer Boblight.conf is for boblightd I know what files is what for, thx :) Anyway, we will see what will be in july upd...
