Re: Zigbee home automation on Pi Zero W

Depend of manufacturer, Zigbee is not so expensive. On Xiaomi device, you can find lot of devices under 10$. For a complete product and not a DIY. You can too use a CC2531 as coordinator, it cost less than 10$ too. I m agree, it s more expansive than ESP8266, but it's not the same installation. More...

Re: Recent information about USB HUBs ?

You are right, but it's on amazon, you can find 904 review about the material.
Some of them have sucessfull power pi3, or more heavy system like apple mc book, these material have only 1 utility : supply. Its made for that, and only that, if they can't, it s just garbage.

Re: Recent information about USB HUBs ?

On my side, I have give up. I will take a charging hub like this one https://www.amazon.ca/Anker-Charger-PowerPort-Multi-Port-Samsung/dp/B00VH8ZW02 with 2.4 A by port, 8 A max. If it can power the last phones, it will power a raspberry 3+. And if later if I need more 2.0 data port, I will take a lit...

Re: Recent information about USB HUBs ?

First of all, what do you need to USB power with your Pi 3B+? The machine will be a "domotic central" , so it will have some devices like USB keys for domotic protocol, but for some other It will power arduinos, speakers, LED (for me power speaker or arduino by the raspberry is useless), and it wil...

Your sabrent hub is this one ? https://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-Charging ... B00SIQIV04
On paper, you can have 2.4 A on fast charge port, and it's not enought ...

Seriously, I will end up doing my own supply to power a hub + the raspberry.

Re: Recent information about USB HUBs ?

@ejolson I have take a look on amazon for your hub, and he look nice, 1.2 A for raspberry (on fast charging port), usb 2.0, and 4 A max, but nothing for backfeed, there is a tutorial who explain wich one wire I need to cut to securise it ? And yep, I need a powered hub, just because I want to power ...

Re: Total failure?

Install raspian on the SD, and make a normal install of the SDK. https://developers.google.com/assistant/sdk/guides/library/python/embed/install-sample It's impossible proposing Pre-installed SD in date for google. This tutorial is out of date too, but it's better than the preinstalled SD. I haven't...

Re: Voice kit v1: assistant_library, change language

To change language for gprc mode, you can do it with code eg aiy.i18n.set_language_code('es-ES') with python. But with library mode the only way is with the portable application. The library support italian https://developers.google.com/assistant/sdk/reference/library/languages. And the difference i...

Re: Speech controlled device using Rpi

Jasper is really too much heavy. If you just want Speech recognition just use PocketSphinx (used by Jasper) If you have less than 10 commands use Snowboy (can work without connexion, really light). For language, it's according to your project, if you want the lightest system, C/C++, else you can fin...

Re: C++ slower than Python for OpenCV !

It's complicated, in fact C++ is faster than python but Python-OpenCV is just a wrapper around the original C/C++ code. So when you use the python version, you just use small python code that use c++ fonctions. So for smaller code I don't think you will see big differences beetween the 2 versions, b...

I don't understand your problem. I m using c++ too with the raspberry and I use c++ library for GPIO managment, text to speech, UART, I2C, facial recognition. You don't need special "online communities", there is a lot of c++ code on the net, specially for complex code that need something fast. It's...

Re: speech to email

The only thing usefull for you in jasper is just sphinx (it's the Text to speech engine used by jasper) all the rest is useless for you.

Search on google for "pocketsphinx"

But if you are agree to pay for that, you can find online TTS version with better result than sphinx (like google or bing one).

Re: Play a WAV file on startup

IDK, if it's that you are searching but you can put a simple command in the " /etc/rc.local" file
>>sudo nano /etc/rc.local

But take care where you put your command, there is an order in this file, there is a line with the word "exit", you need to put your command just before.
