Re: STICKY: Using a Gert VGA 666 adapter - [HOWTO]

Hi, The latest Raspbian distro includes gstreamer support for the "kmssink" video sink which allows direct video rendering into a frame of a DRM device. This works really well on the Pi's HDMI output however I'd like to use it with this module (instead of HDMI, not in addition to). In order for the...

VLC segfault playing http stream

This is more for information in case anyone else encounters the problem as I've tracked down what causes this but I'm not sure why it happens. When trying to play (an audio) stream from the console on one of my Raspberry Pi's using something like: cvlc -vv http://192.168.0.201:8000 -A alsa --alsa-au...

Re: Wifi disconnects after a random amount of time

No answer I'm afraid but I'm seeing similar things - see my post here: http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=25841&p=237823&sid=6f8ab35e148529671c740605f3af1692#p237823 in a nutshell, try throttling back your AP to 802.11g mode (54M) and see if it's more stable. Thus far that is the...

Re: W-3S01BLK (wifi adaptor) 802.11n mode

hmm, don't think it's quite that straightforward. I've now tried a combination of things - rev1, rev2 boards, powered hubs, different usb slots, power supplies, different APs and in all cases the thing is either unresponsive or at best very sluggish. Performed s/w updates to latest all to no avail.

W-3S01BLK (wifi adaptor) 802.11n mode

Hi all, This might just be something to add to the "is it driver / power/ something else" bucket but I've been using this Wifi adaptor (this is the device on the verified peripherals list you can get from 7dayshop) plugged directly into the Rpi just fine except I'd spotted recently our router wasn't...

Re: Kernel paging error during heavy network and disk load

Just to really add/confirm what is probably already known - swapping over power supplies, hubs etc. did not yield anything positive on the problem I was seeing. However I finally got round last week to upgrading the kernel (via rpi-update) and things are much better now. The original fault I reporte...

Re: Kernel paging error during heavy network and disk load

Quick update - I can confirm a similar thing happens with the Debian/Squeeze build however I'm now fairly sure my problem is related to power. Up till now I have been using a USB WiFi dongle plugged straight into the Pi. Just tried it with the onboard Ethernet and I've not seen the crash, it's been ...

Re: Kernel paging error during heavy network and disk load

Running with vm.min_free_kbytes = 16384 has made no difference to the problem I'm seeing. I have another SD card with the old Debian Squeeze image on it but I'm still getting things installed (ie. the wifi adaptor) on it to be able to report back on that.

Re: Kernel paging error during heavy network and disk load

IMG_20120802_225134.jpg I may be seeing the same thing. Been playing with the MPD music daemon. If I request it build the database, from files over an NFS (wireless) link, the CPU gets busy for a bit, plenty of network traffic and presumably periodic SD accesses as it writes the database then falls...

Re: Issue tracker + Subversion managment

I've managed to get Trac (sort of) running. It's very sluggish, not surprisingly because it's not that fast on a 1.4G Athlon. It also has a habit of sporadically generating Internal Server Errors on Apache for reasons that I've not yet got to the bottom of yet.

Re: kernel build issues

Ok, let me answer my own question (slightly) - in the 2nd (Ubuntu) build instance I think I managed to break the configuration by doing a standard make menuconfig to change some settings rather than invoking the cross compiler - so it should actually be: make ARCH=arm CROSS_COMPILE=/usr/bin/arm-linu...

kernel build issues

Hi, Having some issues building a new kernel for the Pi using the instructions outlined in http://elinux.org/RPI_Kernel_Compilation. I've tried two approaches now - first using the tar.gz archive on the Pi itself. This build fails mid way through with an error of the form: wireless/b43/b43 sizeof(st...
