Re: remote desktop and shared drives stopped working after reboot

I made the directory and mounted it using Make directory - mkdir webData Get Thumb drive ID - ls -l /dev/disk/by-uuid/ Mount by ID - mount UUID=cd042011-d0d5-40b6-af68-2e8b16dbae81 /mnt/webData When hooking the raspi to a tv, I can see that the drive is still there (i think, maybe it's just a direct...

remote desktop and shared drives stopped working after reboot

Pretty noob here, I got my pi, I mounted the thumb stick, got apache to source the thumb drive instead of SD, had remote desktop working, had network locations mapped on windows and all was done using name and not IP. Was changing some pointers in apache's 000-default file which required a reboot. A...

Re: Multi output power source options

thanks guys, I'm thinking for this one I'll probably just end up using a usb charging hub i already have just so I can get this rack up and running. but that is good info for me to look at in the future or as a upgrade during some down time at work. (im building a training network so the kids can pr...

Multi output power source options

I got a rig I'm making that can host 16 pi's and I would like to try my hand at gpio power or custom micro usb power cords. I was originally looking at charging hubs and breaking out the wires but I was curious what you guys suggested. What power source do you use when doing gpio power?

Stream from file

There are plenty of tutorials on how to stream the camera but I am not allowed to have a camera in my building. Can I build something that will stream a file, nothing fancy.Probably just a looping video. It can be either received by either VLC or embedded in a web page (or both). The end goal is to ...

Re: USB boot for a media server?

media would be stored on a HDD so this would be for boot only from what I understand.

USB boot for a media server?

I'm reading up on things to do with my pi3 and I found an article about booting from a USB stick instead of the SD card due to speeds and longevity issues. I did read that while looking up making it a web server (which would have significantly more write operations performed) but am now wondering if...

Just started looking at this

... And I sure am overwhelmed. I started out looking at Cisco networking gear to study up for certs but was hoping to find a low power server option to "justify" the gear (web server, VPN, media server... stuff the wife could use so she didn't complain). What I didn't want was some xenon chip hand m...
