Custom desktop or display

Hi I want to run and display on startup a custom application that displays temperature readings and other information. I know I can boot to the UI desktop and run the application, but what I wanted to know is can I boot just to my application and not the normal PI desktop. Is it possible to boot to ...

Re: Joining multiple DS18B20 sensors

You want to wire all of the sensors in parallel. This will avoid the star topology, and you can go quite a distance. I currently have an installation of five DS18B20 sensors along 369 feet of CAT6, and they are working flawlessly. Wired like so: At each sensor, there is a 10ufd tantalum capacitor a...

Joining multiple DS18B20 sensors

I have been looking at using multiple 1 wire temp sensors to read temperatures in some vivariums, I am ok with the Pi end and reading the sensors, but looking for some advise on the cabling side. The internet suggest I should daisy chain these, and as my overall lengths are not great distance use ca...

Re: Node.js with i2c one wire

Thanks for the reply I have searched the internet and can find lots of examples using different packages, but they have one thing in common, the temp sensor is connected using the 1-wire implementation on the GPIO (4) pin. I have the temp sensor attached to the i2c interface via the board. in my ori...

Node.js with i2c one wire

Hi I am exploring using 1-wire temp sensors on an i2c interface. I have one of these https://www.modmypi.com/raspberry-pi/sensors-1061/kits-and-interface-boards-1062/r-pi-i2c-1-wire-owfs-expansion-module Now I can see the i2c device, in the os using i2cdetect address 1b. But my question is can someo...

Good spot Damn MacBook Pro edited in terminal using nano and guess what I have a working PI Zero.

Spent two days trawling the net and trying all sorts. Amazing what a second pair of eyes can see.

Thank you so much

Installing Stretch Headless - Wireless not working

Having read several threads on this forum and others I am still unable to get a headless install of Stretch working with my Pi Zero and MODMYPI Wireless USB dongle. I cannot get wifi connection. I have followed the instructions of adding a SSH and wpa_supplicant.conf file with the following settings...

Hi

Sorry I posted links to the two items. I think the 1wire device is i2c and the screen is grip and spi.

Does this help at all.

Connecting two devices to my pi zero

Hi I want to connect both these devices to my pi zero. As I only have one header I assume this may only be possible by wiring both up separately, but how can I find out the pins required for each etc. https://www.modmypi.com/raspberry-pi/breakout-boards-229/waveshare/spi-3.5-320x480-ips-touch-screen...

Thanks for the replies, I love this forum The power supply is this one https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01DDTYM62/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Don't know if it's linear or not, I'm no electronics expert. Re: Some project power questions

Ok so the pi zero can power the drive. It will also be powering 1-wire devices over i2c. So is using the USB hub as the power rail for the zeros by supplying the 5v 20amp supply also feasible. The reason the power supply has 20amps is I might add more Pi's into the project at a later date. And possi...

Some project power questions

Hi I'm no electrician but have a need to power the following. I have a 5v 20amp power supply that I was intending to use. So firstly I'm sure it can power my 2 raspberry pi zero w devices in the project, one of these is running a 3.5" screen. The other a 1-wire adapter. I want to use a USB hub I hav...

Clusterhat question.

Hi

I know the point of a clusterhat is to make a cluster of Pi zeros however I'm at this stage looking for something to hold up to 4 Pi zeros and power them but allow me to operate them as individual units.

Would I be able to use a clusterhat for this?

Re: PHP and MYSQL

That's a grave accent. This is used around column and table names but if you put it around the date parameters it throws an SQL syntax error.

It has to be something to do with the passing of the two datetime values it doesn't like.
