Re: Pi 4 B - Only 30Hz refresh? 3840x1600 resolution, Acer XR382CQK monitor

Have you enabled 4kp60 support yet? The pixel clock for 3840x1600x60hz is too high for the HDMI 0 port without that option being set.

Re: Battery Blowup!

From what you've said, it seems like you are triggering the protection circuit of one of the 18650 cells, perhaps with the inrush current of the buck converter. That being said, there's nothing wrong with your setup as diagrammed. The buck converter you are using is capable of supplying 5 amps at 5 ...

It looks possible that you may be having the exact same issue that I'm having. I documented it in this thread but it hasn't gotten much traction: https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=284888 There is a both an easy way and more precise but invovled way to check if you are having th...

4k60p display issue (DRM VC4 driver crash / backtrace)

I'm running into an issue trying to get 4K60p output from my RPi4 to my Acer Nitro XV273K monitor. I thought this might have been the typical EDID issue that many people have run into trying to get 4K60p to work, but this appears to be more of a corner case that involves a bug in the DRM VC4 driver ...

Now at 60.5C ambient, 142C CPU and 151.7C PMIC it just rebooted on it's own. Still working fine after the reboot.
151.7C? You're creeping up on the melting point of solder. I'm surprised you haven't had some sort of permanent hardware failure at that temp...

Pi 4 delivering power on HDMI port (is this expected?)

I was just playing around with a 5" HDMI LCD screen connected to the Pi 4 via HDMI, and was surprised to see that the Pi4 was delivering power to the LCD directly from the HDMI port. I was under the impression that only "MHL" hdmi ports delivered power, and the ports on the Pi4 have not been adverti...

Take a look at the following libraries for examples of using DMA to perform accurate high-speed bitbanging:

Re: latest rpi-update 2.5ghz with 4B 4g

Yes, the latest firmware opened up a little more overclock room. I have two boards that can overclock to 2.147GHz stable, and one that won't. I question the part about overclocking the GPU to 750 MHz though. I can set that value in config.txt and the board will boot, but "vcgencmd measure_clock core...

Re: Raspberry Pi 4B - Mouse Cursor lag in 4k

I think by default the HDMI ports drive 4K monitors at only 30Hz, which would definitely seem like cursor lag. I think there is a boot option that you have to set that enables 4K/60Hz...

Re: Setting a static IP address from SD card before boot

Three possible ways. Use a Ubuntu/Debian PC to edit the file. For the sake of completeness, there is actually a 4th way to edit files on the root partition of a Pi SD card, but this method requires $. You can install an extFS driver for Mac that will allow it read and write to Linux ext partitions:...

Re: Battery power / power display in termial

drgeoff is right. You would need an i2c voltmeter to act as the battery monitor, and then you would have to derive a voltage to charge mapping, since there is no way to actually measure the charge level of a battery.

Re: Driving a single WS2811/WS2812 SMD, not a strip

Honestly, if you want these 5V addressable LED's to work reliably and consistently, you're going to have to use a level converter to bump the GPIO output from 3.3V to 5V. It's a pain I know, but every other method is essentially a work around that will work for some LEDs but not for others.

Sandisk A2 class micro sd card the Pi performance king?

Sandisk has released an A2 application class micro sd card that at least on paper will be the undisputed performance king for the Pi. Only trouble is, it costs as much as 10 Pi 3's and is way overkill for the majority of people. Specs are very impressive: 400GB, A2 application class (4000/2000 minim...
