I will try that. Also, im going to try sftp to see if that protocol helps ease the speed issues.

My pc is on wifi, the pi is on ethernet. Im using filezilla. The routeris a very good cisco one with wireless n (150mbs)

My HDD is ntfs

FTP increase speed? What speeds have you been getting?

Alright so I just set up my raspbmc pi and I am transferring media over ftp. Problem is, the speed is a meager 220kb/s. I was wondering what speeds you guys were getting writing over ftp. Also, if this is not a acceptable speed(i dont know what to expect seeing as its a pi and there's heavy bandwidt...

Oh no I have like 4 monitors with it , im working on a project and was hoping not to have to put a 80 dollar screen on the line , but rather a old vga monitor ..but thanks for your helps guys!

I still dont understand how this works..something about the usb and the ethernet using the same bandwidth or so? I tried the wiki, no help. Any clarification will be appreciated:

Again , I use windows , AND linux , depending on the task at hand ofcourse..but..if at all possible windows on the pi would be one more thing this little beast would be able to do. If not , i wouldnt care ... I wouldnt run it anyways .. maybe for a day to test it but thats about it.
