Re: Backing up the SD card when Win32DiskImager fails

You can use linux to back up your card using the dd command. Follow the instructions on my blog which work equally well for linux as a mac. However rather than using dd to put an image on the card, use it to take the image off as below. dd bs=1m if=~/dev/rdiskNumber of=/place/where/you/save/image.im...

Re: how to get a serial event to update a tkinter screen

I have written something which does something similar in the past You will need to have import threading at the top. You can then create a thread as such threading.Thread(target = nameOfFunction.start() Then create a function which checks the incoming serial stream called nameOfFunction to suit. Hop...

I have just written a blog post explaining how to use Cron to schedule when Python programs should run. Hi,

I have written a few blog posts about using Tkinter. Once you get the hang of it it really is easy to churn out GUIs quite easily with it.

Have a look at this post as it may well help you.

Hi, I have used shutiil as you mention in your original post. Does that not work for you? You can always rely on os.system

os.system("cp -r /file/structure/one /file/structure/two ")

My blog post explaining how to create a timelapse would help you create the images and turn them into a film. It would not take much modification for it to create the film each day. You would not need much storage for the images. http://www.trevorappleton.blogspot.co.uk/2013/11/creating-time-lapse-c...
