Re: BBC emulation on RPi2?

Vanfanuel,

Can you recommend any "how-to" guide to port from SDL 1 to SDL2?

This sounds great! I can't wait to try it, but you didn't tell us what the game is called. ;-)

Re: BBC emulation on RPi2?

Trixster - is sound working for you ok? For me in beebem the sound is glitching out, but I wonder if my overclock settings and / or experimental kernel (needed to fix sound glitches in Descent!) may be to blame.

Re: BBC emulation on RPi2?

To revive this thread.... :-)

Beeb-em compiles and runs smoothly (with a few glitches) on the RPi2:

B-em is also reported to work from within X-Windows. :-D

Re: 8-bit Elite on the RPi - the most *playable* way?

Thanks Trixster! So happy to hear that the BBC emulation on the RPi has been rescued from the doldrums by the RPi 2! :-) I compiled Beebem and it works well. Smooth and fast. The only glitches so far are the sound cutting out, crashing on disk load and no way (that I see) to remap keyboard or joypad...

Re: 8-bit Elite on the RPi - the most *playable* way?

Welshy, you might be misunderstanding me. The bottom chunk of the screen (including the laser temperature bar) is missing under the emulator. There is no way that this was what the programmers intended.

Re: 8-bit Elite on the RPi - the most *playable* way?

I'm using Beebem, which I've set up to run under RetroPie through Emulationstation. It's works brilliantly framerate-wise with no issues with keyboard controls. Joystick is a terrible way to play Beeb Elite in my opinion! I'm sorry, 80s joystick habits die hard!! What version of beebem are you usin...

Re: 8-bit Elite on the RPi - the most *playable* way?

There is only one minor hitch. The video doesn't quite fill the screen and is cropped around the edges. This doesn't make it unplayable however. Its not a hitch due to PAL/NTSC inconsistency, the Hardware at the time was displayed on CRT TVs/Monitors that were 4/3 Aspect Ratio, its displaying corre...

8-bit Elite on the RPi - the most *playable* way?

Hi all, I am looking for the best way to play 8-bit Elite on the RPi. I have tried various alternatives, e.g. BBC Micro and Archimedes versions, but I found the emulators flaky, and the keyboard incompatible. I didn't give up, however, and now have found an (almost) perfect playable version. The ver...

Re: RetroPie NIGHTMARE! Please help.

Wifi setup is much easier in Raspian using the graphical interface. Have you tried booting Raspian on a different SD Card, setting up the wifi and then copying the wifi configuration across?

Frozen video in Sega Retroarch (RetroPie)

I am running Sega emulators via RetroPie. They work fanstically well, but only for a short time. After a short while, I’m getting screen freezes where the video locks up, but the game seems to keep running in the background (from the sound effects that seems to be what’s going on). As a note - I ran...

Re: Prepare for Descent

Save the script to your pi.

Cd to the directory it is in.

Then run:

Code: Select all

sudo chmod 755 descent.sh
Then run:

Code: Select all

sudo ./descent.sh

Terminating and auto-timeout of xrdp sessions?

I've set up xrdp to log in to my headless pi. It's working well but I'm having trouble closing sessions. Specifically, I don't know how to terminate a session from within it (shutdown in X seems to shut down the RPi)! What is the best way to achieve this? Is there a way to automatically timeout afte...

Re: Building a RaspberryPi Time Capsule: The cheap, fast and

I found this guide useful when I was setting up my time machine. Thank you!

My current time machine is fairly slow however, it is taking over 24 hours for a 200GB backup. What speeds do you get on your system? Any tips to speed things up?

Re: Use rPi as a Time Capsule - another method

I plan to set this up on my rPi, but I worry about kwsutter's point. As a backup, it is essential that this is restorable. Using HFS+ format makes the backup pluggable into the Mac if all else fails. With ext4 it is more tricky. How poor is the performance on rPi with HSF+? And has anyone successful...

Re: Native Acorn Archimedes games on the Raspberry Pi!!!

I'm having the same problem on RC14. I have installed ADFFS (I skipped the previous steps in the OP as I think that all the ROMS are included in RC14). I can run ADFFS but when I try to Boot from a floppy I get an "Internal error: abort on data transfer" and then the system crashes. Any ideas? I am ...

Thanks. I will test those options too but not today. It looked like they needed rewriting to even work at all, but they are worth a try. AdvMAME seems to work pretty well - if I can only figure out how to launch from the space station in Elite! Welshy - did you say that you managed to launch? What k...
