Raspberry Pi 4 Model B
What's this all about? Previous models of the Raspberry Pi have not been quite able to give the same performance as a desktop computer: videos can be choppy, having multiple tabs open can be problematic and anything beyond basic web searching difficult. The new model — the 4 B — now does many of the...

8 RGB LED strip power supply ( WS2812 )
I have an eight light RGB LED strip. It isnt the NEOPIXEL as such, but it looks just like it. All the guides I have found say you need an extra 5v power supply, however the stick runs on 4-6v and I was wondering if I could just use the 5v pin? I was hoping to use the strip as an indicate on projects...

Re: IF there is a net connection... Else.
Thank you everyone for the replies. I was getting an error "[Errno 13] Permission denied on '/home/pi/desktop/connected.py" I ran " sudo chmod 777 /home/pi/Desktop/connected.py " which seemed to fix that... so that is a note to anyone reading. I have tried DougieLawson's code but...

IF there is a net connection... Else.
I am trying to work out an upload script in Python 2 specifically due to some other APIs I am using. I have some code that will check to see there is an internet connection and the idea is that if there is an internet connection , the code will go an upload function... else it will go to another fun...

Re: Fan runs from the 3v3 Pin1, but not a GPIO?
Thank you for the tip guys, I dont know anything about Mosfet, after looking on google there are many different types.
Can you advise which would be suitable?
I am assuming this would be fine?

Fan runs from the 3v3 Pin1, but not a GPIO?
I have a tiny 5v fan, which I found works at half speed off the 3V3 pin (pin 1). This got me thinking, I could write a script to run the fan if the CPU gets to 40/50/60C. However I found the fan will not run from any GPIO pin. I know the code works as I can make an LED light up once the CPU temp hit...

RDP cannot show videos layers?
Recently when I RDP’ed into a PI Zero W, which I am trying to set up as a CCTV camera, I found that the preview image command would not display anything on my screen. Looking online for solution, it would seem this is because the preview is on the video layer and that the video layer can’t be shown ...

Having spent three hour this morning with the same XRDP issue, I just wanted to advise that installing tightvncserve also fixed my issue with XRDP.
Thank you for that.

Re: Help with Raspberry Pi Zero
Yes, SNES along with other 16bit games work fine on a PI zero.
You'll have less luck with the N64 however.

What about emulators?
As I have read suggestions that you can get improved performance at lower resolutions.

Performance Increase, Resolution and GUI.
I was just wondering if anyone had any data or anecdotal evidence about the performance of their Pi when running at different resolutions? My projects are simple, but I have often wonder if I would get a little more speed out of my Pi2 and Pi Zero in 720p rather than 1080p. Along the same line is th...

Connecting a Bluetooth Keyboard
I have a Bluetooth dongle and a Bluetooth keyboard / mouse with no USB on the keyboard at all. I used this keyboard with my tablet when I have to work. I would also like to use this keyboard with the Pi… but in order to pair this keyboard with the Pi, I have had to use a USB keyboard to access the B...

Bluetooth + Wifi USB Dongle
I have seen some Bluetooth + Wifi dongles online. However I have found almost no information on how well they work and most descriptions are limited. I am unsure if they can do BT and Wifi at the same time or need to be switched to one mode or another. I realised that they are practically the same s...
