Re: Issues with 1602 LCD and RPI 3

I know it's not clear in the photo but my side rails go across the entire board, so that's not the issue. Thanks for the reply tho.

Issues with 1602 LCD and RPI 3

Hey guys, I'm following adafruit's tutorial for LCDs with pi, but it's a tad old. I followed the wiring diagram for the 2/B+, as GPIO layout is the same on those baords as it is on the 3. The LCD has power, and the pot allows me to adjust contrast, but no text shows up when I run the sketch. I've tr...

Re: Run script on my Pi from the web

Because it's not you running it; it's a system user. Like the error says, user www-data doesn't have adequate permissions. You're going to either need to elevate their permissions (not recommended) or change the permissions for the file you want to execute. chmod 777 NAMEOFFILE This sets the file pe...

Re: Crypto wallet on Raspberry pi 3

For beginners to linux, it's often best to start with a guide, so you don't get stuck. Software in linux is installed via the command line, so I recommend that you figure out exactly what you want to install. You didn't specify a cryptocurrency, so I can't help you there. Most of them have arm packa...

Re: Multiple Webcams and USB Drives

I don't know about 2 webcams, but it should be viable to use a linux enabled usb webcam with the pi. You'd just need software to link them up. Check out this stack exchange answer for more info. https://raspberrypi.stackexchange.com/questions/33791/multiple-webcams-on-a-single-raspberry-pi Adding th...

Re: firefox fuul screen mode

Yeah, kiosk addons force it to full screen.
Try pushing F11 to exit full screen.
if that doesn't work, just uninstall the addon. Use CTRL + SHIFT + A to get to the addons menu, and then uninstall it.
Best of luck.

Re: How transfer files to pi using wired ethernet?

I'll just add another answer on here too: 1. Was already answered 2. Make sure you have ssh enabled sudo raspi-config and then go through the menus and enable ssh then get Bitvise SSH (like putty, but with more content) use sftp to transfer files over an ssh connection. https://www.bitvise.com/downl...

Re: Help With Pi Zero W

It's an issue with the SD card. When you yanked it out, you corrupted the main partition. Download jessie again, and re-image using win32disk image.

Making an internet database for IOT devices

So, I would like to develop an online database for IOT devices. The idea is to build a device with the raspberry pi, register it with an online database, and use this database to allow connections to the pi from the internet. For example, controlling an led. I'd want to connect the pi to a database ...

Re: Which hardware to buy: Simple sign project, Stranger Things

First, this kind of thing is better (easier) with an arduino. Mega to be exact. I'm assuming you want LEDs, so any supplier (probably amazon) will do there. You'll need wires to connect everything up, and a soldering iron if you don't already have one. If you just want to do it the easy way, you can...

Re: Connecting Raspberry Pi to Old Telephone

So, just to sum this up, I'd connect my telephone to the Ata (Which must support pulse dialing), the ATA to a router, and then connect the router to my pi. All in all, I'd end up with a VOIP system which could be integrated with a text-to-speech program, correct? Thanks for all the help and suggesti...

Re: Connecting Raspberry Pi to Old Telephone

It's a rotary. I figured I wasn't connecting it to the PI directly. I think the rotary looks really cool though, so I wanted to do something with it. Any ideas on how I could make the thing work? I was thinking I might need some kind of internal telephone network, since I want it to ring and be able...

Re: Login problem in graphical environment

Hello, Normally when I turning on the RPi3 the login to system was automatically. Few days ago I had problem with turning on my RPi (some errors during os starting) so I formatted SD card and uploaded my backup of system. After this, the login window appears. When I type the password the login wind...

Re: Pi Zero W will not connect to wifi router

WPA-WPA2 PSK is supported on Pi 0 W, so that isn't the problem. Can you access your router's configuration page? It should be at 192.168.1.1, with a defualt password you can google based on the manufacturer. From there, you should be able to see connected devices. If you have another linux device, y...

Re: Static Sound From Headphone Jack

Yes, this is normal. The Pi's audio amp isn't all that powerful, so some static makes its way in there sometimes.

It may also just be your cable. Try another one and see if that helps.

Connecting Raspberry Pi to Old Telephone

So, I found an old-ish telephone in my grandparent's attic. They were using it until about a year ago, when we upgraded them to an answering machine. It's a bell R82-4, sold in 1982. I was hoping I could connect it to my pi, sort of like an extreme version of the email notifier program. The idea is ...

Re: Using RPi as TV device

Larry's advice should work. If your Tv doesn't automatically control the pi, access your Tv's setup menu and look for your TV manufacturers version of CEC. If your TV was made in the last 6 years, it should have it. Then plug the pi in, enable the CEC function for the PI and you should be able to co...

Re: Controlling LEDs through web page

I've got a project where the RPi is running a web server and being controlled through a WiFi connected tablet. I used this guide https://learn.adafruit.com/setting-up-a-raspberry-pi-as-a-wifi-access-point/overview?view=all to setup the Pi as a WiFi access point. CherryPy is my web server because I ...

Yes, the robot is running a web server. I will give Javascript a look, is there anywhere you recommend I look? Sorry for counteracting your comment earlier Heater. Re: Controlling LEDs through web page

Yeah, I can see why I would want to keep this very simple. However, I am using this as a test for a later project. I want to write code to control a wifi robot later on, and this is just a test of what I would have to do for those controls. I appreciate the reply though.

Hello all, I have been trying to get AV output on a project that I have been working on. The pi that I am using is a RPI 2B, with raspbian installed. I've also tested with Kodi and RetroPie. I am using a mini tv display for testing. I have 2 displays, and I know the input for one of them works for s...
